It is wonderful to have a theater like Count Basie in central New Jersey. I recently discovered that they support the arts in many ways with outreach programs for young musicians. As a concert and performance venue, they offer something for everyone. A word of caution, avoid the loge seating, which is really tight with no leg room.

Theater underwent a total rehab a few years ago. Varied programming, with many top acts. Although it is a large space it still feels intimate. Only drawbacks are, it is a relatively small stage and inadequate restrooms.

We go to the Basie a lot. It is a good venue with a diverse schedule. I have seen some great shows over the years. They do have trouble with consistency from event to event. It seems large crowds overwhelm the staff. "Friendly" is not a word I would use to describe the Basie staff. Often it feels like ticket... More

I like the local-feel of this place. It is still a bit gloomy and drafty, but the newish seats are an improvement. A while back, individuals in audience were abusive and rude to Bill Mahr. Louis CK was better treated. I am delighted with the diversity of talent it attacks.Local community theatre Phoenix was adored as they should be. Parking... More

My suggestion is to not see a comedienne at this beautiful venue in a fantastic city. I have been to the theater to see Wanda Sykes, David Sedaris and Joan Rivers (RIP). The comics come out blazing but once they feel the room, they do their middle America set of jokes. Its absolutely not the same show you would see... More

We've been attending shows at the Basie for years and always enjoyed this beautiful theater. They did a fabulous job in the restoration and I still stare at the ceiling every time we go in. Quality acts in a venue that seats about 1500 so not a bad seat in the house. The addition of the patio in the side... More

Community theatre that is well kept, has great variety of shows, fair prices, and nice home town location. Parking was adequate and this newly renovated theatre was a real treat. Would love to return soon.

this theatre is an icon in our area and offers so many different types of productions to please just about any kind of taste. the makeover in recent decades has also made it more appealing. the only drawback is the lack of convenient parking. a good bargain however for those of us who are tired of trapsing into the city... Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ is a gem. I have been attending their series of four plays a year as a subscription member. They are entertaining and well-produced. We have many talented people in our area who perform in these productions. Very worthwhile experience.

Went to the Count Basie Theatre to see a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar put on by Phoenix Productions. The performance was very enjoyable and a great experience. Prior to going and knowing that the Count Basie Theater is a very old landmark I wasn't sure what to expect of the venue. I had never been there before. The place... More
