The organization that restored the house did a wonderful job, plus they were able to retrieve the original furnishings. The tour guide was very knowledgable, but was unable to engage her audience. In order to see the house it must be a guided tour and the door is locked once your group enters. No one mentioned that the tour lasts... More

We visited the Emlen Physick Estate in combination with the Trolley tour of Cape May. We loved the trolley tour, but the estate tour was not so interesting. We had high hopes as we had done historic home tours in Newport, RI, but this estate was much smaller and was just not so interesting. However, if you're looking for something... More

We tour the Emlen Physick Estate and found it to be very interesting. Gorgeous details inside as well as the outside. If you have young children I don't recommend it for them. My kids got bored.

The historic society has purchased this property and is in the process of turning it into a museum. The home was in ruin and most of the furnishing sold or destroyed. If you frequent house museums this is not for you.

The Emlen Physick Estate was purchased by the City of Cape May in 1973 and leased to the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). MAC restores the property and maintains it as a museum of Victorian life. It was the home of Dr. Emlen Physick, his mother and his aunt. The house is attributed to Frank Furness, renowned... More

Nicely restored Victorian mansion and grounds. A good "save" for the people of Cape May as this building was earmarked to be torn down a few years back! Nice location... I wish there was more to the tour than just the house... the carriage house has been turned into a shop and a area for showing off the art of... More

Thank you for this wonderful suggestion. The Emlen Physick Estate is unusual in that it has most of its original outbuildings from the carriage house to the pony barn to the two-seater outhouse. All of the other buildings have been put to a contemporary use in one way or another but they tell an interesting story of how life was... More

Went on the trolley ride around town. With this it took us to Emlen Physick estate. Dark and dreary. Wouldn't do this again.

The evening tour of the Emlen Physick Estate focuses on the Victorians’ fascination with spiritualism and today’s methods of “ghost hunting.” The daytime tour looks at the architecture, decorative arts and family history. Hope you'll come again for one of the daytime tours. More

Rather ordinary review of the estate. A bit pricey at $12 per person with no senior citizen discount.

I enjoyed seeing the Emlen Physick house. It was beautiful inside. The architecture was beautiful. Nice tea shop on the estate if you want a quick meal or snack.

I love this tour. It is not too long or complicated for young people or for a vacation. I live here, and I learned a great deal. I want to go back for a mystery night, or ghost tour. Great activity for a rainy day while on vacation.
