Went on the Wednesday 10:30 a.m. children's tour. Our guide was dressed in period attire, and truly made the children the focus audience. My boys, ages 7 and 9, who usually protest guided tours, were enthralled with the house and the guide's description of life during Victorian days. We would do this tour again!

Thank you for bringing you kids to the Physick Estate. We think it's important that youngsters learn about our history and we want to make it accessible for them. Museums like the Physick Estate bring it to life. More

My daughter and I toured the estate on our trip. We did the combo trolley-estate tour which took about two hours. Our guide was very knowlegeable and friendly. We were in a small group and it was easy to hear and understand the guide. the house is beautiful and it is great that the historical society saved and restored it.... More

The combination trolley/Physick Estate tour is probably the best way to get acquainted with Victorian Cape May. You see the historic district during the trolley ride, which gives you an overall picture of the town and then you visit the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate for a window into how life was lived then. We're glad you enjoyed your day. More

The guide takes on the roll of the owners mother and stays in character the whole time. A nice change of pace from just the average walk thru tours in other places.

I arrived at 9 am like the website advertised but tours didn't even start until 11:15! I left to come back later and had to fight tourist traffic in Cape may. I was a couple minutes after 11:15 and was told I would have to wait until the 11:45 tour. Will not be staying for the later tour and will... More

Our administrative office opens at 9am. Our gallery and shop open later and tours are on a regularly scheduled basis. This information is available on our website and in the publication "This Week in Cape May." Once a tour has begun, it's really not possible to "catch someone up," without inconveniencing other visitors who have already begun the tour. There... More

Tour guide walks you thru each room and tells you a little bit of history. You can't touch anything--wouldn't recommend for people with small children.

The Emlen Physick Estate Tour tells the story of life in the Victorian era through the building and artifacts from the collection. Since these objects are part of our collection, museum standards require that they not be handled. Even our curator uses cotton gloves when she has to touch an object. We do offer a tour for children, with objects... More

We loved our tour guide! She was so informative and truly loved "her doctor" and his family and neighbors. It was a short walk up and down the street, we talked about architecture and the families that lived at the time of Dr. Physick. We had a delightful lunch at the cafe which was outside under a tent. We also... More

Authentic wealthy Victorian home, the organization preserving and improving it managed to get a lot of the furniture and artifacts original to the house back. The 40 min house tour was entertaining if you are interested in those times (for my husband it was too long, while I did not get bored at all). The carriage house also had a... More

We are lucky in that we have many family artifacts in our collection. The Physick Estate shows how a well-to-do family lived in this era and lets visitors experience that age. Thank you (and your husband) for visiting us. More

We went to the mansion because we love mansion tours. This tour was horrible to say the least. There are so many pretty houses in Cape May and this house is NOT pretty at least on the out side! The inside was nice but the tour guide was absolutely horrible!!! He was abrupt, mean, rude and downright annoying. Their was... More

Thank you for sharing your experience. We'll share it with our staff. It's our goal to make every visitor feel welcome in our museum. The Physick Estate is a very unusual house compared to Cape May's other Victorians. It's not the colorful, gingerbreaded variety of Victorian house but a more sedate and, yes, plain style known as stick style. The... More

This house tour (about 45 minutes) was interesting and gave you a glimpse of life during its time period. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. However, all in all, we didn't find it exceptionally interesting and/or unique. We did like the gift shop a lot as well as the cafe, so it was worth a visit in that respect. We... More

While the Victorian era may not be everyone's cup of tea, we do try to keep it interesting for our audiences. Most of the work of architect Frank Furness, to whom the Physick Estate is attributed, no longer exists so this is really a rare glimpse into how life was lived more than 100 years ago. Thank you for visiting. More
