In addition to climbing the steps or just enjoying the design, walk out to the water and take a close look at the churning current around the lighthouse...an interesting and dangerous place to be. Interesting history surrounding this lighthouse...if you like lighthouses this is another unique one that's taller than others! A must see at the north end of the... More

We haven't been here in years and it was great to visit again. I came to "Old Barney" for the first time when I was nine years old, and I was amazed at how tall and beautiful this lighthouse was. It is still impressive after so many years, and my six year-old loved it, too. He enjoyed reading the signs... More

Beautiful scenic area on LBI. If your looking for a nice family photo opportunity go to Barnegate Light House at sunset- its gorgeous! They have dirt trails, or you can take a stroll on the cement pathway along the water. Here you will find fisherman and a view of where the bay meets the ocean. In the evenings you will... More

The place is lovely. Very unfortunately, it closes at 4:30 in the off-season (after Labor Day), so we missed being able to climb the lighthouse by just a couple of minutes. The good news is, it is also free in the off-season. The walk through the dunes was lovely, and the walk out by the water with waves crashing against... More

If you are visiting LBI then you must also visit Barnegat Light. People of any age will enjoy marveling at the lighthouse. We also climbed it which was a great experience for the price of FREE! Many other great views and people watching in addition to the lighthouse itself.

There is an awesome walkway adjacent to the lighthouse that goes over the jetty on the edge of the inlet. Here you will find great views, people fishing, lots of boat traffic, both commercial and recreational, and nice benches to just sit and take in the sights.

Great attraction. History, the view, the stairs if you are brave. The ocean and surrounding dunes. Equals=A little bit if heaven.

Awesome View, Excellent Park and Cool little Historical Museum. A must stop with the family and you can't get a better look at the north end of LBI than from this tower.

We went here on a nice day with my 18-month old as going to the beach can get a bit tiring. There's a nice walk/boardwalk on the water's edge to see birds and dolphins in the water. It's free for the walk and only $3 if you want to climb the 200+ stairs at the top of the lighthouse (we... More
