Short weekend visit to LBI for a wedding, and we were able to squeeze in a drive to the north end for a viewing of the Barnegat Light. The park was open until 10 pm, when the gates & any remaining cars would be locked in (said the notice on the gate). If your coming at night, bring a light... More

We love to stop here every time we are on the island. Kids love to run the rocks along the inlet. Wildlife, fishermen/women and shell collecting. And you can climb to the top of Old Barney! What's not to love !

Climb the 217 steps to the top and enjoy the panoramic view. Read up on the tale of "Barney" in the Interpretive Center. Learn about the changing nature of our coastline. Walk the Maritime Forest trail, one of the last remnants of maritime forest on LBI. It's an easy self-guided loop. There is a picnic area, walkway along the water,... More

Visited "Old Barney" while in the area. Climbing to the top is an adventure, with multiple stops that have historic factoids and views. The view for the top is breathtaking. There is plenty of parking, nice picnic areas and a cool walk on the long jetty. If you are in the area it's must-see.

We had fun climbing the 210 steps up the spiral staircase and viewing Long Beach Island and the Atlantic Ocean at each landing window. Beautiful habitat surrounds.

We biked here from Ship Bottom to see the lighthouse. There was a short loop trail near the visitors center which had signs explaining some of the plants in the area. Near the lighthouse is a walkway that goes out towards the water where you can look back towards the lighthouse. You can walk up the 217 steps to reach... More

Beautiful lighthouse with a very interesting history. The interpretive center was very informative with a very good video describing the life and issues of the lighthouse(s). We didn't climb the stairs, however the walks surrounding the lighthouse were pleasant views of the area

I dont like heights but there was plenty to see at the base of the lighthouse. Lovely walk way built out over the water and plenty of National Park signs to tell about the flora and fauna. The lighthouse according to my spouse, had interesting brickwork and yellow metal spiral stairs (about 200 of them) to the top. I could... More

If you are in the area this is a must see! The park is so nice and the lighthouse is just beautiful! And, there's a walk way around the lighthouse and it extends out along the shore! Nothing negative!!

A beautiful lighthouse with great views! Entrance to the park is free, if you want to climb up to top of the lighthouse it costs a dollar. The view from the top of the lighthouse is great-you can see Island Beach State Park to the north, Long Beach Island to the south, Barnegat Bay to the west and of course... More
