I printed out tickets at home and headed for a familiar drive from Somersworth NH to Rye NH, a trip I've made many times, so no GPS needed. We left with plenty of time, but ran into multiple detours and construction zones and went way out of our way trying to get there. We only had the tickets, which did... More

My family went on the 2:00 trip and really enjoyed it. The people from the Blue Ocean nature group were extremely informative and answered all the questions my children asked. We got to see 3 different fin whales and also a baby harbor seal. On the way back we ran into an unexpected thunderstorm and the crew handled it and... More

This was the best whale watching trip I've been on. Yes it was about 90 min each way but hey an iPod fixed that right up. It was pretty chilly but they do tell you to bring a jacket. We saw 12 to 15 humpback whales and got amazing pictures. The staff, boat and trip was wonderful !

Wonderful affordable experience, the crew were professional and informative. Great morning on the water, we spotted 12 or 15 whales and got close enough to take some great photos. We will be back, but next time we'll bring more sun screen.....don't forget yours!

This multi-hour whale watching trip is fabulous. It's not expensive and is run by folks who study whales and truly care about their well-being. The "moderator" was very informative and incredibly respectful of the sea and its creatures. Our trip had 60 passengers - and it wasn't crowded. Granite's boat isn't huge - which is nice. There is no hard... More

Another great whale watch. Picture perfect day. Saw minkes, humpbacks, and fins; several of each. Rye is close to the ledges where the whales feed, so the trip out is fairly short. The boat is comfortable, with plenty of seating inside and out. Viewing whales is best from the top deck, which gives a 360 degree view. The crew is... More

We were pleased to find a whale watching trip for $36 at Rye Harbor because we weren't thrilled about paying the $50 per person advertised in Bar Harbor. Granite State even has a senior discount rate, at $28. We were more pleased when we realized that we lucked into the only whale watching tour that specializes in whale watching and... More

We signed up for the afternoon 4 ½ hour whale watch and the boat went out with about 60 people. As we went further out in the ocean it got cooler and with the wind and boat’s speed we were glad that we brought layers with us. We were about 1 ½ hours out when we saw our first whale... More

I am a fairly critical person when I drop this amount of cash on a one day excursion. From being greeted at the office to getting on the boat and through the trip the staff was excellent! We could not have had a better trip. The seas were calm as glass, marine life was fairly active and the staff was... More

Fantastic experience. We were very lucky with weather. Calm seas, sunshine. We spotted 9 minke whale, and after a determined search we were lucky to see the elusive humpback which was awesome. Boat clean and not over crowded, staff friendly and knowledgable. Fun shop at the harbour. The morning trip had also spotted dolphins. Trip time 5 hours.
