Good pub food and live music

Had been a few years since I had been to Portsmouth and this overnight trip was for business. Our small group of four chose Press Room for dinner. Three of us had steak tips and... read more

We went here with some friends while the decks where crowded. The service was poor and drinks really weak for the high price. No bar food either as the menu is for the restaurant upstairs and is kinda fancy. Plus side is love music, but I a small place you can't hear yourself think while it's happening.

Not our typical hangout but they had a group there we wanted to check out. Creaky, dark, dank place...some people like that but...given the age of the building that's what you get. Liked the oriental rugs hanging on the wall for acoustic and deco. The seating is uncomfortable, sticky, dated furniture. Some people get into that vibe...I guess it just... More

Had been a few years since I had been to Portsmouth and this overnight trip was for business. Our small group of four chose Press Room for dinner. Three of us had steak tips and one had fish and chips. Other than the fact that my tips were undercooked (which the staff quickly corrected) I don't think anyone had a... More

Maybe for pub lovers which I am not. Its interesting - the staff is nice, and the jazz was great. Other than beer there is not much else worth drinking. The food was mediocre pub food - over cooked fries and greasy onion rings, over cooked falafel... I just was underwhelmed. Not worth my lunch... Atmosphere was nice, but the... More

We only were on the first floor for a drink. Service seemed a bit overwhelmed. We ordered 2 beers, 1 mixed drink, 1 diet coke and one coffee. We got, 2 beers, 1 mixed drink, 1 glass of sletzer and one cup of cold coffee. Our waitress was able to bring us the right order but we could tell she... More

I liked it, good food and atmosphere - just thought it was a little pricey. Most places in the area are also, however.

For a place to have a fantastic drink, good food, a place to just hang for awhile, and absorb some great entertainment, don't miss it. Regardless of age, you never feel out of place, and can be gradually absorbed by a great crowd.

This is a great pub with great local music, food and beer. Its hipster atmosphere is quirky and fun and the hot appetizers and cold beers can't be beat!

It's the Cheers of Portsmouth. It's been here forever and yet it remains unpretentious. The bar is always hopping and you usually meet a familiar face on the premises. The vibe is laid back and has a wide mix of ages, from college kids to local matriarchs. The food is standard pub fare done well. The beer menu is huge... More
