We took our mother for birthday cruise on this boat to the Isles of Shoals -- what a wonderful way to spend a few relaxing hours with family! The boat had an attentive crew and some snacks and beverages to satisfy hunger or thirst needs. The day we went turned out to be foggy and misty, but it just added... More

Took the day trip out to Star Island aboard the Isles of Shoals Steamship. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to reach the Islands. There is commentary through out the cruise. Once on Star Island a 35-40 minute historical walking tour is included. Afterwards you are on your own to explore and enjoy the island. The half day cruise gives... More

My Aunt used to come on the ship to Star Island every year for a week of painting, so I decided to see what her experience was like. I don't paint, but I like interesting geology and I love boat rides and watching waves. So, I was very happy for a half day trip. Beyond that I would have been... More

Having grown up in the area, I have taken this ship many times over the years for school trips. However, we rented the boat most recently for our high school's 10 year reunion for a private sunset charter. From the beginning, the sales coordinator Tanya was super helpful and the night of, the cruise director Christina and the entire staff... More

We chose the self-guided walking tour of Star Island, so our trip was on the Celia Thaxter boat on Saturday morning. When we arrived, the parking attendant alerted us to the potential for not being able to get out of the harbor as there was a good chop on the sea. We decided to take the chance that we could... We had a truly fun time aboard the Thomas Laighton. The crew was friendly and the Captain had wonderful stories to tell. He always took time to slow down to see points of interest. We were lucky to see El Galeón Andalucía (one of the tall ships) coming into the harbor the day we went out. The only trouble we... More

Had an enjoyable excursion to the Isles of Shoals aboard the Celia Thaxter this week. Fog at Portsmouth Harbor gave way to a sunny day on Starr Island, where we enjoyed the easily-walked Perimeter Trail around the island. Great way to spend a summer day. DO bring a sweater or light jacket, since temperature dropped considerably en route. You're also... More

We took the 3.5 hour trip to the Isles of Shoals on the Celia Thaxter. This is the smaller of their boats. It was a pleasant older boat and departed and returned on schedule. The crew was very nice and approachable. The captain invited passengers to the wheel house. The tour the captain gave was interesting and he was very... More

I had gotten gift certificates on Groupon for this cruise. It is not as expensive as we thought and I've used them twice now and still have a balance left. It was very chilly on the water but still a great day, sun shining. Crew was very accommodating. Always a good choice when we're in Portsmouth. Remember to take jacket... More
