The Shakers was quite the experience.....

Great venues, for a small New England town but this place is not to be missed. Get better seats if you can because you are then close enough to the stage to see performers faces.

Great Sound, Great Staff, World Class acts, amazing historic theatre with really good sound. Recently renovated bar and intermission areas are a sight to see. A very special place in the heart of Portsmouth. Hardly a bad seat in the house. Intimate and exceptional.

The Portsmouth Music Hall of today, carefully restored to the state of the original, exists because of the love and generosity of the town's residents. It is a wonderful venue to see select movies, especially those excellent movies you won't find at the local multiplex, live entertainment and performances from artists of national standing, and great specials like the Met... I love this theatre. You can always see so well no matter where you are sitting. I love the bar area before you head into the show and of course- the BATHROOM!! This particular time I saw Diana Gabaldon. It was just a great evening all around!

We have lived in and attended concerts and films in Boston for 50 years. We love venues like Sanders Theater because of the architecture and the intimacy of the audience space. So why do we drive an hour away for a film or concert at The Music Hall? We do it because we want to support the beautiful restoration and... More

Our first time to the Music Hall was this past weekend and what a wonderful little venue this place is! This certainly will be the first of many to come. The hall is clean, the staff is friendly/courteous and there doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. I was very impressed with the design as well. Can't... More

I vowed I would not return to the Portsmouth Music Hall, but I just could not resist the opportunity to see Comics for K9's back in October of 2014. The show was amazing. Our experience was a better one this time. However I will say that I would only choose to go here based on how badly I want to... More

We're "regulars" at the Music Hall - both the big theater and The Loft. Each is a great choice for music: good sight lines, excellent acoustics, etc. Movies in the big theater are a bit archaic (sound especially) but it's fun to see art films with other interested viewers. Oh, and the bathrooms at the Music Hall are worth a... More

Quaint old charm engulfs you, upon your entrance into the hall. It's visually appealing with a small footprint so you feel like you're with friends witnessing a performance. We saw "The Mavericks" for the second time in a year (in Concord, NH earlier in the year) who originally started music now defined as Americana in the early 90's. The staff... More

I love the Music Hall. I am actually somewhere in the picture on the front page with Chris Botti. We just saw George Benson there and I am taking my wife to see Diana Krall in the spring (shhhhh - don't tell - it is a surprise. There are some seats that have a partially blocked view but otherwise one... More
