I saw Melissa Etheridge at the Music Hall. I hate to admit that it was the first time I've been here, but it won't be my last. The Hall is very nice and quaint, all the seats are great. We happened to have an extra ticket, and a friend was able to join us, and she's seen many concerts at... More

Classic music and other stage performances venue. Small bar, intimate setting. Lots of great shows, acts, performers. Seating is old and cramped, however and not much room for bending at the legs. Still highly recommend, I've been to movies, talks and concerts and they've all been terrific. Just be aware if you have knee or leg issues.

The Music Halls partnership with the Ogunquit Playhouse is a gem. We had never been to this little Portsmouth theater but heard of it this summer while visiting the Playhouse. The Music Hall is a bit hard to navigate upon entrance but the theater is beautiful and has great sound. Not really a bad seat in the house. The show... More

The Portsmouth Music Hall is a gem and probably one of the main reasons why Portsmouth is such an attractive and interesting destination for so many people. Films, mainstream and artsy, live concerts and music, operas from the Met and special events and entertainment, Telluride Film Festival,, a cool bar and a wonderfully restored proscenium stage and trompe l'oeil ceiling,... What a terrific venue for this type of performance. The 1878 Victorian theater was perfect for this type of show. The production by the Ogunquit Playhouse troupe was superb; but this review is about the venue. We were in almost-the-back-row balcony stage right which were described as "slightly obscured". That's a good description. We could not see the last 4... More

First time here. Affiliated with Ogunquit theater in Maine but special performance of White Christmas using both casts. The play was fantastic. The sets were incredible. One scene was inside of a train car that looked very realistic. The snow scenes were beautiful and the country inn was stunning. The actors were very talented and the songs and dance numbers... Saw White Christmas lastnight. Great production. Theater was cute. A personalized note welcoming us as first timers to the theater. We ususally got to Ogunquit PlayHouse. I really prefer the playhouse over this venue. My seat had an obstructed view - about 1/4 of my view was blocked by a pole and the guy in front of me took up... More

I lived in Portsmouth, NH back in the 70s when talk of renovating the old Music Hall in Portsmouth was just beginning. I'm so glad the project was so successful! What a wonderful venue this is and I feel so fortunate to be able to take advantage of the various entertainment offerings. We saw Diana Krall and Chris Botti there;... More

The Music Hall was well filled last night with folks who traveled to hear Joan Armitrading on a solo tour reputed to be her very last as a live performer. Easily gotten to with parking readily available and so many various culinary choices for pre or post performance dining. Outgoing, knowledgeable volunteers and extraordinary sight lines most every seat in... More

The restoration of the Music Hall in Portsmouth NH is remarkable. We went for a concert and the acoustics were marvelous. The chairs are either new or well reappolstered, but a bit tight. There were no bad seats as we could see. The workmanship on the plaster decorations on the walls and ceiling were excellent. The main chandelier in the... More
