Beautiful Gardens and Lovely Staff

The garden was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They gave us lots of tips for places to visit/eat in the area.

We took over 1 1/2 hours touring this home and gardens. That particular day, they were having a wedding that was being set up. And it was a beautiful day for it with 72 degree weather.

I have visited the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden several times as I live in the area, and I'm a history geek. Perhaps more notably, my husband and I were married here. It's a special place to both of us and we couldn't think of a better place to hold our wedding. The museum is open June-October daily tours. The tours... More

My husband and I got married here on May 10th - a wonderful sunny day in the 80s. Marsha, the Events Coordinator, was very helpful throughout the planning process and was crucial in getting the contract with the caterer signed. We were able to set up during the rehearsal on Saturday and broke down the tables and chairs after the... More

We had the advantage of staying at the Hilton Garden & our room over looked the home. First thing we did was go over for the tour, it did not disappoint. The gardens are exceptiona & host small weddings. The house has a wonderful story, the tours are individual & the historic furnishings are so interesting. A real must if... More

My best friend got married here this past weekend. While the space was absolutely stunning, the staff was very rude and less than helpful. At the rehearsal the evening before, Marsh, I believe that's her name, was extremely passive aggressive when speaking to the bride and didn't take any initiative to begin and keep the rehearsal organized. On the day... More

The two women who run the house are miserable creatures. If you have an issue with people using your space for weddings, why open yourself up to the trouble? The entire experience was agonizing, from getting yelled at for putting a piece of furniture on the grass to cleaning up all the tiny pieces of cake on the dirt left... More

Drawn by its imposing exterior and location overlooking the harbor, we decided to visit this historic house but were unprepared for the beautiful, ornate interiors. The gracious two-story entry hall with a grand staircase is splendid with imported European 18th c. wallpaper depicting the Bay of Naples. The sitting room includes a fascinating series of family portraits and an entire... More

The Moffat Ladd house is the mansion/home of a wealthy Portsmouth merchant that was built in the 1760's and which you can take a narrated tour of. It was one of the first homes with a dining room. There is also a very nice garden behind the house and it has harbor views. A worthwhile visit.

We enjoyed this tour very much and were quite surprised at how well the house had been maintained. The extras the family built into this house for its age were amazing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. Nice way to kill a little under an hour.
