The fall foliage dinner train is well worth the trip. Make reservations several months in advance to get the 1st class, glass dome car . The food is ok in the dining car, and a nice treat. Combine that with the fall foliage, hopefully on a sunny day, & it's worth it at least once.

Went on train ride with husband and 2 kids aged 12 and 8. We went on the longer train ride, the shorter train ride was 55 min. We chose the first class car (Gertrude Emma) with wicker chairs facing the window which was comfortable. The view from the train was mostly trees blocking the mountains you were trying to see.... Just seeing the beautiful train station set against the backdrop of mountains is nostalgic. Try the lunch service run with lunch served on cloth and china. Lots of fun with older kids. Great scenery.

We love trains. Whenever we have the chance to take a scenic train ride – well, it’s “all aboard” for us! The beautiful old depot building sets the stage for riding in the vintage passenger railroad cars. During the "off season", the train rides offered are shorter in length and time. So, we take the 1.5 hour Valley Train Ride... More

We had tremendous fun on the 6 hour trip - enjoying the beautiful scenery, interesting views and the lovely old train. We enjoyed following - being followed really - a youngster who was following the train and photographing it at every intersection. We were able to catch him at the station and sent him a pic of him taking a... More

Nice old trains, short one to Conway, not so nice. Longer one to Barlett very nice and longest take 6 hours, but well worth it. Views are fantastic

We take the valley tour every year. When the kids are older, the lunch train over the mountain sounds lovely. We have hear great reports and spotted some of the amazing rails up the mountain.

It was a fun trip. Informative. Not a lot of sites to see, but nice for the view. Recommend the first class cabin. Better views. Less crowded than the later, shorter trip.

We did the valley train and my daughter loved it! Awesome fall views. Our only wish is that you could get on the train in the Attash area instead of just the North Conway Station.
