Breathtaking views and notch has many things to do in close proximity---Cannon Mtn. Tramway, Flume Gorge and numerous stops for trails and sights.

This area has a lot to discover: hiking trails, camping, aerial tramway and some interesting historical information. Take the drive through the mountains of New Hampshire. It's a little slow and a little windy but worth every curve.

Stunning views! It was a challenging hike but very rewarding. Beautiful waterfalls on the way up the Falling Waters Trail. Definitely bring a lot of water to drink if you plan on hiking the ridge.

Stayed for 6 days in August , at Lafayette Campground. Outstanding place, everything was amazing. Few areas anywhere would have as many spectacular natural wonders, doubly so for an area as relatively small as Franconia. We did Echo beach, Cannon Mountain tram and observation tower trail at the top, the basin, the Flume gorge, the hike to Lonesome Lake, and... More

We took the aerial tramway up Cannon Mountain, fab views. We hiked up Mt Pemigewasset, visited the Flume (overpriced and crowded but nice walk), we strolled on the beach at Echo Lake. Plenty for everyone of all ages and fitness levels.

The basin was gorgeous! The best part was it was free. Not that the other places we went were expensive but every one knows how a budget needs to expand sometimes.

The sights were amazing, the price was fairly expensive, and I was not met with friendly faces as I paid for admission. It is a self guided hike that included a lot of impatient people trying to get to the top all at the same time so it was very hard to enjoy the sights around.you without being rushed, it... More

The bike trail starts near Echo Lake and Cannon Mountain with signs leading all the way down to the Flume Gorge. The trail follows the highway and is mostly downhill. The scenery is beautiful and bike path is paved all the way down to the Flume Gorge parking lot. Went during Memorial Day weekend 2013 and was definitely worth the... More

Franconia Notch is relatively small but what a gorgeous place! Some of the best hiking trails in New Hampshire can be found here. You can go on a short easy 15 minute hike such as Artist's Bluff, a longer but very scenic 50 minute hike such as Lonesome Lake or an all day strenuous and adventurous hike such as Mt.... More

I am a local. I can't think of anywhere else I would prefer to live. The mountains are beautiful and the people are friendly.
