Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

Great experience - definitely a nice place to visit

Blue cave is a nice experience - definitely something you wouldn't expect to see and the best is when you ask for lunch to be enjoyed on the island.

Beautiful and amazing place, my reccomendation is to go around 11am when the un is high and the sunlifgt hits under the water for the best experience. Also wear swimming suit and dive under the wall.

Amazing blueish water inside the cave. Although crowded as there was a line of boats trying to get in and out at the same time in a tiny space. Should be restricted to a certain number of visitors a day.

Quite a long boat ride to get there but totally worth it! It's very interesting to see the sun play its game with the light in the cave. They only take you inside briefly: one circle so be sure to have your camera ready and enjoy! We booked in Vis in the harbour at the small agency next to Studenac..... More

A magical experience,we went after mid-day and the water in the cave was truly a beautiful pale blue colour as the sun shone through.

Visually stunning, but you're only in the cave about 5-10 minutes. Waiting for the sanctioned launches to take you inside can be an inconvenience if the lines are long.

You get into the dark cave and then, suddenly around the bend, you see the is electric blue light come from the bottom of the water. It seems otherworldly but the cave has become the victim of its own success. While, until last year, you were allowed to get into the cave with your own inflatable dinghy (after paying 40... More

Very unusual place. It takes you about ten-fifteen minutes to get inside and see this beauty, and it's really worth it.

Very impressive. Did not believe we could get into the cave. A very low entrance. Best way to reach the caves is to take the 9 am tour from hvar for 350 hrk pp. Enjoy.

It works s little different than it did in the past. You now tie up on a nearby cove and they shuttle you into the cave in tenders that seat about 16 people. You still pay at the entrance to the cave. We were there on a bright sunny day so the blue in the cave was intense. Worth the... More
