Went specifically for the Tahoe exhibition and found that it encompassed most of the museum. Very informative but you must see the video presentation first to get a good grounding on the display pieces. We ended up buying the video before we left. It was that good!

in 2014 Nevada turned 150 years old to celebrate that the Nevada Museum of Art had the honor of displaying the original Emancipation Proclamation. I went for the first time to see this display, but I return about every 3 months to enjoy the magnificence that is Nevada Museum of Art. Worth a visit and then some!

The layout of the art and the quality of the displays shows considerable skill by the people handling the museum. Such impressive art pieces organized by artist and by date. What a treat for my wife who is an art lover.

In town for New Years. Wanted a walk and chance to get out of the casino for fresh air. 20 minute walk to the art museum from downtown casinos. Special exhibit on Lake Tahoe and Sierra Mountains. Took the docent guided tour. Recommend this option if available. They always provide artist back stories and more information about the art. Next... More

We visit at least once each year as they have several special shows each year. This time was a special on Lake Tahoe that took up the entire museum. It featured painting by Bierstadt from the 19th century, Ansel Adams photography from the 20th century and Maya Lin sculpture from this century with a lot in between. We have seen... More

The exhibit covers many years of history with intricate Washoe woven items. Ranging from historical maps to contemporary interpretations of the lakes and their watersheds, the exhibit provides individuals with interesting information and beautiful art.

We spent almost four hours enjoying the Tahoe Exhibit. Take your time and learn about the history of the Lake Tahoe Region. Very well done!

We visited in October and took in Tahoe: A Visual History which will be on display until January 2016. On exhibit are baskets woven by Washoe master Datsolalee, paintings in the Hudson River School style from the mid-1800's, artifacts and photographs from the Tahoe Tavern and other resorts of the early 20th century, as well as a discussion and visual... Lake Tahoe and surrounding area is on display in art, photography, antique maps, activity center, literature, and tactile arts. It is a marvelous show that is beautifully displayed. If you are in the area or live around the area, it is worthwhile your time and the entry fee to visit the Nevada Museum of Art. The show continues into January... More
