Very nice venue for artists. Interesting displays that change regularly. Comfortable and can gaze at a leisurely pace.

I grew up in the Chicago, IL area, so this does not compare to the Art Institute in Chicago at all. Was surprised how small it was.

We arrived at the museum on the first day of the displays called TAHOE: A VISUAL HISTORY. The Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas are shown through the eyes of almost 200 painters, photographers, architects, weavers and sculptors. Our two favorite displays were the baskets woven by Louisa Keyser, a Washoe native also known as Datsolalee; and a display of railroad... More

My sister had her wedding here at the Art Museum in Reno and it was such a special and wonderful place for a wedding. The ceremony was on the rooftop, which has a nice view and the reception is held downstairs. The whole Museum is open for the guests to check out, which was really great! The food they have... More

Architecturally significant structure- make note of the many unique details throughout. The exhibits are excellent- there is always something new going on, from themed displays to archeological collections to Old Masters' traveling exhibits. The cafe is wonderful, the gift shop wonderful- I do half my Christmas shopping there every year.

We recently became members of the Nevada Museum of Art and we have enjoyed the exhibits and the First Thursdays with music and the small plates available at Chez Louie. Membership definitely has its benefits and I would highly recommend it!

Good art, great atmosphere, a compliment to the River and midtown artsy areas and a nice contrast from the casinos. Also great food in the cafe, a great gift shop, and wonderful views from the roof.

It was a disappointing visit for us because the third and fourth floors were closed due to preparation for a Tahoe exhibit. Only part of the second floor was open and the gift shop on the first floor. The third and fourth floor will re-open in February 2016

I worked at the NMA for the first 6 years that it was open and so have a good grasp of it's artistic offerings. It is a publicly funded ( non government funded, public and foundation funded). The museum is a four story building of 77,000 square feet with galleries on two floors and sculptures on the roof. They have eclectic... More

The museum and all of the people associated with it are first rate. The exhibits are always interesting and well displayed. The museum as a cafe in the lobby and Sunday music. They are getting ready to open a large exhibit in late August 2015 about Tahoe - one more reason to visit.
