A walk around the campus provides a combination of historical and contemporary buildings. It's a hidden gem. If you are looking for a school, it's worth looking into.
I was really impressed with UNR-- great looking school. Spacious, nice facilities, big school spirit. All the kids we met were really happy and appreciative of their university. If not into rah-rah the kids said there is a big contingent of outdoors men/women who take advantage of the nearby mountains for skiing/boarding/hiking.
The Wolf Pack what's not to love? The campus was beautiful and the students very welcoming and friendly.
First, even if you're not of Basque heritage, visit the Center for Basque Studies at UNR. This is a world class program in Basque related studies. The main campus library is worth a visit as it shows how welcoming UNR can be. Just about everywhere you go students and faculty are welcoming and helpful - range science, music, food services,... Literal bird's eye view of the UNR/UC Davis football game can't be beat. I was surprised that each skybox is decorated ,maintained,& supplied by it's sponsor. Maybe all Colleges do this, this was the first time I was lucky enough to experience it.
I had a full day in Reno and not interested in gambling, so I hit TripAdvisor for "things to do". Having just come from Idaho and some very amateur geode and opal hunting, I thought I'd visit the W.M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum on the campus of UNR. Like minerals, gems, and history? Go here. Park directly... More
One of the prettiest quads you'll find anywhere surrounded by old brick buildings proudly overseeing great education. Many areas of study excel here, and the community is tight and supportive. Lots of good times to be had here!
