We took this route as suggested by our GPS on our way from Zion National Park to June Lake California. It was mind numbingly boring to say the least. Miles and miles of absolute nothing on a 2 lane road. Most all the road signs have been shot at (bullet holes). It also goes right through free range country, which... More

Was visiting Area 51 and part of the drive was along NV 375 which was renamed the Extraterrestrial Highway after the movie Independence Day became popular. Most of it is wide open but there is a 5-6 mile stretch with a lot of twists and turns.

If you are a ufo buff you have to visit Rachel and Area 51 although you won't see the little black mail box coz some git has pinched it...the little A le inn is the only place to get food and drink and you are made welcome by the 2 ladies who run the place it's also a gift shop......alien... More

This wasn't an intended route we were to take but the moment we read about it, we were jumping in the car. So we decided to do this at 7 in the evening and by the time we hit this highway, it was pitch dark. And in that lies the fun of this route. This extends 88 Miles, however we... More

This byway is one that deserves more visitation, just to enjoy the expansive views. Rachel and the timeless Twin Springs Ranch, a 5-generation family-owned cattle operation, are the only human settlements here. Enjoy the drive, enjoy the basin and range terrain and magnificent sky and clouds.

Desolate, hot, forbidding. Doesn't sound like a travel destination, but sounds like an excellent place to put a secret military base, right? This road will take us civilians the closest to Area 51 (well besides the 12 mile long dirt road to the "gate") It's actually quite beautiful country with huge boulders the size of buildings and miles of Joshua... This was a fun detour to say we'd done it and made for an eerie drive at dusk. We kept "spotting lights" and assuming they were aliens which was amusing and memorable. Plus, great photo-ops at ET HWY sign and at the Little A'Le'Inn. Just watch out for the free range cattle. If your going slow and watching close, you'll... More

The desolate landscape of Nevada has it's charms, but the E.T. Highway really shines at night (figuratively more than literally). Driving the highway on a moonless night there is almost no visible light besides the headlights of your car. Distances can be impossible to judge, and your eyes play tricks on you. When a jackrabbit jumped out across the road... More

Most of the reviews here focus on the Extraterrestrial Highway and the Area 51/UFO thing around Rachel, but for my time and effort the crown jewel of this section -- and ultimate payoff for this out-of-the-way stretch of lonely, hot desert highway -- is where the two species of Joshua Tree cacti meet south of Rachel, NV. When you venture... More

There is a lot of nothing until you reach the Little A'Le'Inn restaurant. but don't miss it. Take your photo under the sign which is littered with stickers! You can hardly read the sign for those stupid stickers. Hope someone cleans them off because they look ridiculous.
