I really like this place and her sister properties downtown (The Freemont, and Mainstreet Station). The staff is always nice and glad to see it's customers. I stayed here for the first time in 20 years. It was reasonably priced and a fairly standard room. Not too many frills to mention. What I appreciate the most is the staff, but... More

We visited Las Vegas during Memorial Day weekend. We played in this casino at least a couple of hours each day. The dealers were very friendly and funny. The Redwood Grill has amazing Steaks for a low price. We stayed on Fremont Street so I cannot speak for the hotel rooms here.

My mother and I decided we needed a quick getaway. Very last minute. We wanted the downtown Vegas experience and we decided on the california. Never regret it! Although it is a little dated the room was clean, the noise level was minimal and the staff are great. They are friendly and accomodating! We had a great night sleep and... More

My wife and I were surprised by the large crowd of retirees so early in the morning; however, the delicious plates and cheerful staff provided ample reasons for the crowds. Classic diner fares at the greasy best. The elders knew what they were doing.

Ist time to the California hotel. I was not sure what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice casino. Lots of choices to eat and great rooms. Close to Fremont street but without the noise.

My wife and I have been to Vegas over a dozen times and have stayed at many hotels (both on the strip and downtown) and “The Cal” is now our favorite place to stay. Positives: Very friendly staff, clean rooms (The entire casino is clean), $5 blackjack tables and very reasonable hotel rates. A few downsides: Not happy about paying... More

Yes- Island focused but nice folks. the Cal is a nice change from the rowdy crews on fremont and I will stay again. Rooms... More

Stayed here as part of a Family Reunion. The rooms were fine, had all the normal amenities, and the air conditioning were excellent. The restaurants were excellent and very well priced. The Hawaiian themed were excellent also.

Spent 3 nights...miserable nights...at this casino hotel. At first glance, I thought the remodeled room would be very nice. Pleasant color scheme, light-colored furniture gave room an airy feel....until I realized that the air I felt was uncomfortably warm. The room has wooden shutters on the window. Most places put a room-darkening roll-up shade behind shutters but not here. Afternoon... More

Spent a Saturday night here and really not worth the price. Room was quaint, but couldn't get a comfortable temperature. Either too hot or too cold. Small casino, old Hawaiian decor. But all in all not a bad place.
