North Platte is proud of its Buffalo Bill legacy. The Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park is the crown jewel of all things Buffalo Bill in the region. William F. Cody settled in North Platte in 1878, following a long career as a Pony Express rider, soldier, scout and sometime actor. Buffalo Bill got his nickname during his work for... More

We were driving thru Nebraska and saw the sign for this attraction and decided to stop. Very glad we did. Nicely maintained and has quite a bit of history to review. There are stairs in several buildings. Nice connection to Cody Wyoming, which we visited previously.

This is a piece of history that is enjoyable for the whole family. Be sure to check out all of the buildings and pet the buffalo. The house has spectacular furnishings and historic art.

The Buffalo Bill Ranch national park is a very well maintained property with beautiful grounds perfect for a picnic and even camping. The House is your typical 1800's luxurious house where W.F. Cody used to spend his off days entertaining his high society friends, the self guided tour of the house, barn and grounds is only 2.00 but you need... More

The state does a fair job of maintaining the historic house and grounds. They only take cash, and they are very limited in handicapped accessibility, which is partially understandable in a historic structure but they could do more. The volunteers are very nice and helpful and it is worth a stop.

Lovely large home for that era that you can completely tour, with many personal artifacts, and items from the Wild West Shows on display. Very informative film in the barn along with a gallery of pictures from Buffalo Bill's life and times. Sometimes there are artisans displaying crafts in the barn. There is also an old log cabin on the... More

If you're passing through it's worth a look. The home was closed when I visited on a road trip in the winter but regardless I think it was well worth going.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say but I live in North Platte and have only been inside Buffalo Bill's house twice--once as a little girl for Girl Scouts and only once as an adult. It is well worth the visit even without the historical significance. It is a really beautiful house and the grounds are so peaceful to walk around.... More
