I had seen pictures on the internet of the doors to the East Chamber in the Nebraska State Capitol, designed by Lee Lawrie, and was determined to pay a visit on a recent road trip in the USA. I'm so glad I took the time as the building is a treasure trove of 20th century architecture, art and Nebraskan history.... More

Tour is worth it (it gets you into some locked rooms you wouldn’t otherwise see, such as the old House chamber and Supreme Court chamber). Grounds have little or nothing on them--do not spend time walking around them.

Beautiful and well worth the stop to see and tour it. This beautiful building is the pride of the plains. Don't miss it.

If in Lincoln,do take the time to visit the state capitol building,so beautiful and so different from most all other state capitals in design. The art is amazing and each piece tells the story of the people and the struggle to form this Midwest state. You can take a very tiny elevator to the top of the building and look... More

The structure is awesome and the history of building something this tall back before cranes and the modern technology is amazing.

Great architecture and tours. Spend a few minutes looking at the tile murals on the floors--they depict eons of evolution. A fun, unexpected adventure in a conservative Red State where science is often questioned...but not on the floor of the capitol. Artwork throughout makes the trip worth the time.

The history behind it is so very interesting. Be sure to ride the tiny elevator to the top. Schedule a free tour! Also check out the governor's mansion behind the capitol.

The Nebraska Capitol building is unusual and significant among the capitols of the states. It has many features based on the native tribes of the state, the geological and ecological history of the state. It draws on concepts of law from the ancient Greeks and Romans, Egyptian decoration and architecture of many cultures. The murals are mostly from the 50's... More

The Nebraska State Capitol is a wonderful example of architecture and art in the 20's and early 30's with an emphasis on history of the state. Be sure to take a tour since there is so much to see. The guides will direct your attention to individual points of interest that might be overlooked with just a walk through. The... More

Tours are on the hour of this art deco monument to Nebraska and its people-first people and settlers. The building is a blend of cathedral, art deco and modern art. Great view of the city is found at the top.
