I was a little surprised that the security was so loose at the government building, and it is very easy for a visitor to peek at the work of the senators. Anyways, the building itself is gorgeous, full of ancient elements. The main floor is absolutely breathtaking, the mosaics and wall paintings are wonderful. The top floor is the best.... More

If you like architecture, art, history, or politics the Nebraska State Capital is worth a visit, the rotunda, legislative chambers, law library, supreme court hearing rooms, and of course the view from the tower as well as the room with the murals up there. Should not visit nebraska without a tour of the Capitol.

Wasn't quite sure just what to expect but...WOW! We arrived before the first tour was to commence at 9am so we looked around for a bit. The first floor is dark and reminded me of being in a Visitor Center for a cave; low ceilings, grey interior, information circle in center of area, etc. The 2nd floor is where the... More

I've been out to the capitol before, but this time hubby and I decided to take the free tour, and I am only disappointed that we did not do it sooner. Tour guide was fabulous - we learned about all of the significance of the art, frescos, wall hangings, inscriptions - it was totally fascinating. When you see what is... More

The building located in the middle of lincoln city near university of nebraska lincoln. The decoration inside the building was magnificent. Every detail have its own theme with some story line linked it. Every detail have its own design, even the lamp cap have its own meaning. Although the building is a government building, but they keep the maintenance was... More

The capitol building is in it's third iteration and is quite a dark place. The supreme court wing feels like you're entering a prison, with dark, grey walls and no decorations. In the main corridor they have some very good murals, but overall as far as aesthetics it ranks below 50% in capitol buildings I have visited.

I don't usually spend time going to tour Capitol buildings, but this one lived up to the hype. It is absolutely one of the most stunning public buildings in America. Not from the outside, but on the inside. Don't let the first floor fool you. You might think you are in a dungeon when you walk in, but go to... More

We visited on the 4th of July and the building was empty, which is by far the best way to see the grandeur and splendor of this magnificent structure. The mosaics are brilliant, especially when you can see them all without foot traffic. The Supreme Court chamber is remarkable in its beauty and function. Be sure to ride the elevator... More
