Maybe the most beautiful Capitol in the nation, Nebraska's contains outstanding, lovely mosaics, murals on the interior walls and floors, woodwork , and sweeping views of the surrounding city and plains from the tower. The only one-house (unicameral) legislature in the nation, the legislative and state Supreme Court chambers are also impressive. Free tours scheduled throughout the day.

We visited for an hour recently when in town to see relatives. Wandering around inside, we were very impressed by the amount and quality of the architecture and artwork (paintings, mosaics, tapestries, sculpture, etc). The building is beautiful. We had a tour guide which I highly recommend. We went to the top and looked out over the city of Lincoln. Beautiful!

I had heard that the capitol building was something special, but it was always Nebraska natives telling me this. So I went to check it out myself and was astounded by the architecture! The mosaic work is amazing and the amount of marble was incredible. Unfortunately, the doors to get outside at the top were locked due to winds (so... More

Every step of the way, this tour was a story and a piece of art. Mosaics, wonderful architecture, beautiful paintings, and artists telling a story about Nebraska. There was nothing to dislike.
