Holmes Lake is such a nice place to picnic and hike or just watch the stars. In the 1970s we used to sail our little sunfish sailboat on the lake. Not sure I would want to go in the water now, but it is still a nice little lake and beautiful on a clear night. We've had many family reunions... More

The total lunar eclipse photography session there was a one-time event for me, but the entire Holmes Lake Park and its facilities are very nice (the lake is especially beautiful at dawn and sunrise) and should be visited frequently for enjoying life's simple things. There's a sand volleyball court, well-maintained softball diamonds (watch a night game there for free entertainment),... More

Easy to find and big enough for a casual walk around the lake. Big bonus as it close to one of the local dog parks too!! Often find people sailing or kayaking around the lake.

I love the new walking path that goes all the way around the lake. There are also picnic tables, and plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. I saw more people fishing, due to the reshaped shoreline.

Holmes Lake Park has an extensive trail system that runs all the way around the medium-sized lake, which is stocked for fishermen - "no wake" boating is permitted. There's an observatory for those who love to stargaze at night, and right across the street is Rickman's Run Dog Park. There is plenty of room for your company picnic; there are... More

The Holmes Lake Observatory is a real treat for the whole family. It is run completely by volunteers, but they are very helpful with kids and really work hard to create a fun night. It doesn't take too long. You do need to be mindful that if it is a cloudy night, it might be more challenging to see things.... More

A run/walk was held at Holmes Lake for a friend. This was a great location. The weather was terrific (good planning!). We enjoyed walking around the lake. Plenty of space on the walking path to walk three abreast. Very pretty location.
