Owner description: Yellowstone Alpen Guides has operated small group and private tours in Yellowstone for 29 years. Our naturalist/guides are experts in all things Yellowstone and are fun travel companions. They will help you experience the extraordinary wonders the Park has to offer during both winter and summer. Small group size guarantees you a personalized touch not found on most tours. A company with experienced long-term employees, we pay close attention to detail and quality and strive to be the premier guiding company in Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Join us as we explore this delicate ecosystem that is home to Old Faithful and two-thirds of the world’s geysers; where grizzly bears, wolves and other abundant wildlife roam freely. We cater to individuals, families with children and groups of all sizes. We have lodging and tour packages available; one call will take care of your Yellowstone vacation planning needs. Winter snowcoach tours operate daily to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We offer the option of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on our trips, and customized charters are also available. We provide shuttle services to guests staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and offer charter service to the North* (Mammoth/Gardiner) and South* (Jackson Hole) gates of the Park. Our snowcoaches are the classic, historical bombardiers, modernized for comfort and low emissions, made for over-snow travel. Summer tours include Lower Loop, Evening Wildlife Safaris, kayak tours and private customized tours to meet your desires. Whether you are a first time Yellowstone visitor or are returning for your next adventure, we can help plan your itinerary. Your trip can include things like wildlife watching, a day hike to a backcountry geyser basin, a photography safari, swimming in a thermally heated river, and seeing the sites that make Yellowstone America’s grandest Park. Alpen Guides believes it is important to protect and preserve our national treasures. We generously donate to the worthy Yellowstone Park Foundation, the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and many other organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

This was a highlight of our ski week at Big Sky. The winter weather has been unusual so the snow level was low and as a result we couldn't take the red bombardier snow coach. We had to take a van instead (we were notified 2 days prior of this) and we were originally pretty bummed about that. But our... More

Took two tours in the winter. Both were good. The guides really love Yellowstone and have a vast knowledge. Their passion is evident as they go through and give the tours. Great service. In the winter they are only one of two companies to use the old style snow coaches.

Had David A as our guide. He was terrific. Knowledgeable and very enthusiastic; he was our guide both days. We decided to do two so we could go to both the Canyon and Old Faithful. We saw lots and lots of wildlife and very few people. Our wonderful transportation device - the Bombardier - was really cool. Look, if you... More

We took the Bombadier snow coach Old Faithful tour which included cross country skiing. We would rate it higher than a five if we could. Our guide, Dave was extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of Yellowstone...geology, animals, history, etc, Although he does tours all the time, his enthusiasm was amazing..it was obvious he really loves his job. Seeing Yellowstone in... More

Can I just say......"It was the best day ever!" I traveled to West Yellowstone with my 75 y.o mother, my teen daughter, and my sister for a holiday weekend. We were picked up in the lobby of our accommodations by Chris. In addition to our group, there was a couple. The day was spent with the perfect amount of stops.... More

My girlfriend and I did this ride on a perfect winter day! The park is so quiet and beautiful this time of year. Our guide driver Chris was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw lots of Trumpeter Swans, Elk, Golden Eye ducks, Water Dippers, Bison, Bald Eagles and a Coyote! Only downside was 2+ hours at Old Faithful. It was... More

What a great day! My wife and I did the trip to Old Faithful on 1/23/15 with Dave as our guide. Boy did Dave and the park come thru! The highlight was seeing a large female elk and a bobcat interact but there were also coyotes, a red fox, lots of bison, and all the awesome hydrothermal features at Yellowstone!

This was our third trip into wintertime Yellowstone, and we've used Alpen Guides each time. We love the snow coaches (bombadiers) and even more so, the guides. Our guide for the first two trips was Jake, who was great. For this most recent trip we found that Jake was no longer there so we had Jack as our guide...and he... More

I had one of the best seats behind the driver so I could look outside my side window (which was behind me so I had to turn) as well as through the front window since the driver's seat is set in towards the middle of the chassis as well as easily stand up to take pictures through the open hatch.... My husband and I met our daughter and her fiancé at Yellowstone for this trip as a Christmas gift. We also had our 14-year-old son. We had a great time. We had wonderful weather, which helped. These are small coaches, and old, but have a great personality. They have sky lights which open, so you can stand up and look... More
