Owner description: Yellowstone Alpen Guides has operated small group and private tours in Yellowstone for 29 years. Our naturalist/guides are experts in all things Yellowstone and are fun travel companions. They will help you experience the extraordinary wonders the Park has to offer during both winter and summer. Small group size guarantees you a personalized touch not found on most tours. A company with experienced long-term employees, we pay close attention to detail and quality and strive to be the premier guiding company in Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Join us as we explore this delicate ecosystem that is home to Old Faithful and two-thirds of the world’s geysers; where grizzly bears, wolves and other abundant wildlife roam freely. We cater to individuals, families with children and groups of all sizes. We have lodging and tour packages available; one call will take care of your Yellowstone vacation planning needs. Winter snowcoach tours operate daily to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We offer the option of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on our trips, and customized charters are also available. We provide shuttle services to guests staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and offer charter service to the North* (Mammoth/Gardiner) and South* (Jackson Hole) gates of the Park. Our snowcoaches are the classic, historical bombardiers, modernized for comfort and low emissions, made for over-snow travel. Summer tours include Lower Loop, Evening Wildlife Safaris, kayak tours and private customized tours to meet your desires. Whether you are a first time Yellowstone visitor or are returning for your next adventure, we can help plan your itinerary. Your trip can include things like wildlife watching, a day hike to a backcountry geyser basin, a photography safari, swimming in a thermally heated river, and seeing the sites that make Yellowstone America’s grandest Park. Alpen Guides believes it is important to protect and preserve our national treasures. We generously donate to the worthy Yellowstone Park Foundation, the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and many other organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

This was our third trip into wintertime Yellowstone, and we've used Alpen Guides each time. We love the snow coaches (bombadiers) and even more so, the guides. Our guide for the first two trips was Jake, who was great. For this most recent trip we found that Jake was no longer there so we had Jack as our guide...and he... More

I had one of the best seats behind the driver so I could look outside my side window (which was behind me so I had to turn) as well as through the front window since the driver's seat is set in towards the middle of the chassis as well as easily stand up to take pictures through the open hatch.... My husband and I met our daughter and her fiancé at Yellowstone for this trip as a Christmas gift. We also had our 14-year-old son. We had a great time. We had wonderful weather, which helped. These are small coaches, and old, but have a great personality. They have sky lights which open, so you can stand up and look... More

Great experience with this company. Our guide, Drew, was very knowledgeable and accommodating (I highly recommend him). He never seemed to be in a rush at all and took time to answer all our questions. The vehicles are the best for getting around the park in the snow. Their seating arrangement allows you to have conversation with the other passengers... More

We recently used Yellowstone Alpen Guides for the second time, and did not disappoint. We decided to take a private photography tour as we were more interested in seeing animals, then all the geysers. Our guide was great and told us about the history of Yellowstone along the way. We purchased the lunch as well which was worth it. We saw... More

What an awesome day trip from Big Sky. On one of the coldest days, we had the perfect outing into Yellowstone with our laid back, knowledgeable guide, Drew. Comfortable and fun bombardier. Great wildlife sightings. Stunning scenery with canyon falls, thermal pools, etc. Drew gave us great info about the history of Yellowstone, and easily answered all questions. Lunches were... More

Our family took a private tour of Yellowstone with a guide (Dave) from Alpen in August 2014 (I'm a little late with the review). He met us in our hotel lobby promptly at 9AM. He then took the time to get to know us and tailor the tour to what we wanted to do. He was fully equipped with binoculars,... More

This tour company does a fabulous job. We inadvertently booked one less seat than we needed at the busiest time of the year. The staff worked miracles (without complaint) to accommodate the change so we could all go together. Our guide, Kim Baird, is a fountain of information on the park, the animals, history - anything you would want to... More

We decided to break up our ski trip and take a day off of skiing with a guided tour. Chris was our guide and had an answer to every question we asked.... and told us so much more with things that we didn't know to ask. He was so personable and accommodating. We took a day trip tour to Old... More

We recently visited Yellowstone NP -- my first time and my husband's second. We enjoyed a wonderful three nights at two of the park lodges. We thought we had done a pretty good job seeing all of the sights in the park, but we decided to spend the last day with Yellowstone Alpen Guides for their evening wildlife tour. Brenda... More
