This beautiful carousel, completed in 1995, was the brainchild and vision of a local Missoula cabinet-maker, who carved much of the structure himself and also trained an enthusiastic team of volunteers to assist in the project.

If you're in Missoula, head for the river and find the carousel! It's the cleanest, best run, fun ride we've every been on. BTW, we're in our early 70s. It just looked too good to miss. You can even try for the brass ring! The locals have created this, and all their work and love in doing so comes through.... More

Next to river and downtown, great place to stop for a beautiful ride. Was interesting to learn it was made by local volunteers. Beautiful horses (and dragons), fast ride, can catch the gold rings. My kids are teens and they enjoyed it as well.

Our daughter loved the ride, especially being able to grab the rings during each turn. Very nice carousel and worth the stop if in the downtown area of Missoula.

I did not ride the carousel, but it was still fun to visit! There is a large cement "plaque" outside the carousel which tells it's interesting history. The intricate workmanship that went into carving the different animals is well worth seeing. There is a gift shop and a concession stand inside. It seems you can hold parties there. You can... More

A must do for any one traveling through with kids or locals wanting something different to do. The carousel itself is a piece of art. The staff is always friendly and smiling. Dragon's Hallow connected or next door is a great place to burn off extra energy!

The kids loved visiting this place. Everyone tried to get the brass ring. Such fun! There is also a great smashed penny machine, and ice cream.

Even adults can let their inner child out after reading the story behind the creation of this carousel. Canadians can ride the horse "midnight rose" which was carved, and shipped in from Alberta.

You don't see one of these everyday... a handmade carousel?!?! Worth checking out for sure. Read the backstory, it's really cool, and shows another aspect of Missoula's fantastic quirkiness.

While the kids are riding the beautiful carousel, adults can learn about the history of how the carousel was built and how each horse was built from scratch, mostly by volunteers. Younger kids can ride in the chariots and then afterwards play in the Dragon's Hollow. The price is cheap and even adults ride it. The carousel is a beautiful... More

Hand carved horses, glockenspiel, speed and a dragon, all in a park by the river. Fantastic play area adjacent.
