We tent camped at the Westshore campsites on Flathead Lake. We liked the fact that there was a lot of shrubs and trees that providing privacy between camp sites. The sites and restrooms were well kept. There were some very nice hiking trails as well as having easy access to the lake. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. We... More

I live in Kalispell and we have a sailboat at the South Flathead Yacht Club. I can't think of a better place to be than at the lake. It is about 40 miles long and varying depths to just over 300ft. It offers so much to do with all of the islands. Wild Horse Island has just that, wild horses.... More

This is a boater's dream lake - huge and uncrowded. We drove the eastern shore on our way to Glacier - the drive was unhurried and beautiful. We took a break at the park, which is several miles in from the main road - we were the only ones there. Great place to stop for lunch, and take a walk... More

This is a beautiful lake. The crystal clear water is just amazing. You can see way down into the water. The rocks here are really pretty and colorful all over the shore of the lake. We went out in a boat to go over to Wild Horse Island. The weather was chilly, but it was still a great day spent... More

Main reason to visit the area imo. The east side has lots of cherry orchards, various parts of the State park around it. Definitely worth driving around the lake and going in the lake too if it's warm enough.

This park is located a little ways out of town. It has always been uncrowded and quiet when I've visited. The lakeshore is rocky and there are big rocks so you can sit and watch the water.

We drove round Flathead lake and stopped for a drink at the Sitting Duck, where the people on boats moored in and came in for a drink pleasant to sit and watch and we had some local beers

We visited the Flathead area and were shocked when we read about the size of the lake. It was beautiful. We tried to take a cruise, but had just missed the last boat going out. We can see why so many people come there for the summer.

Flathead Lake is a place we have been told we needed to visit, but it seemed so far away from California and besides we have Lake Tahoe. But, when we drove around Flathead Lake we discovered several things. It is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, only smaller than the Great Lakes. The rim is fairly free of... More
