This area has both maintained its historical interest and offers many treats for the traveller- including great ice cream!

Great place to take a walk, find an interesting restaurant and watch passersby. Some nice shops too!

Cool area to walk around, but not a lot of shops or restaurants to meander in and out of. Seemed to have a lot of offices and service-type businesses. Did enjoy a delicious dinner at Lucca's, lunch at Bert & Ernie's, and shopping at Birds & Beasley. Plus a visit at Martin's Wine Shop proved to be a great stop... More

Last Chance Gulch is so classic Helena....and still today its just like it was 20 years ago, but with a bit more businesses moving in to accommodate the community needs....taverns, pups, brewers, eateries, etc.....still a great place....parking is a bit challening at certain times of the night.....

We were able to walk to Last Chance Gulch and on to the walking mall from our hotel. Superb building architecture, wonderful restaurants, and cozy shops line both sides of the mall. Could never tire of this part of Helena. Don't forget ice cream at Big Dipper!

If you have free time with nothing to do, taking a walk along Last Chance Gulch can be relaxing...it is quite peaceful since there is no auto traffic..and the area is filled with very nice people. There are not too many stores of interest along this street...many are closed. There are a few places to eat and there is a... More

We really fell in love with this area of Helena. The buildings, walkways, stores, sculptures, statues and historic items really add charm to this area. We enjoyed walking through here with our dog and like that there is plenty of free parking available. Bird & Beasleys is a must for anyone visiting this area as they carry many itmes handcrafted... This is n historic section of Helena set up as a walking mall. There are a limited number of stores as many buildings now house government offices. Be sure to look up as the architecture is interesting. There are some nice galleries and a couple of the top rated restaurants (Lucca, Windbag, Big Dipper). Be sure to visit Birds and... More

Nice place to browse some interesting shops and grab an ice cream. If this mall was in a bigger city it would be crawling with people. As it is it's just a sleepy place with some interesting shops and nice old architecture. Most stores are closed on a Sunday though.

It is my "little city" walk about location. Be sure to read the historical markers on the buildings as well. It will "frame" your stay in MT, especially Helena. Very interesting story as to how "Last Chance Gulch" got its name.
