We have relatives that live within walking distance of the river and try to visit often. The trout fishing is Wonderful and plentiful right now. We caught our limit within an hour and headed back to house. Respect the other fishermen and the river and you will truly enjoy yourself. The fish taste great ( especially if you have an... More

The river was filled with grass when we were there, but the fish are in there. Go into this expecting to clean your hook alot.

Drift fished 2 sections of the river on 3 different days with excellent guides from Frontier Anglers. Caught many (lost count) fish both drivting and from a few stops along the banks. Fish ranged from 9" to over 20" and were healthy and beautiful. Will do this again.

If you stay at lodging with a pet, confirm cleanliness with staff before leaving. Otherwise the next pet will mark your pets scent and you will be charged if management is duped.

Terrific river. Better fished from a boat, but there is bank fishing to be had. Fish Tales outfitter's Michael Stack would be a great choice. He's very good and works hard to provide clients an excellent day of fishing.

The Beaverhead River near Dillon Montana: May 27: the season starting slowly, no significant hatches. Try orange Ray Charles or olive pheasant tail, gray scuds this week. As flows improve and temperature rises, feeding strikes will be triggered. These fish are large, don't be afraid to use 3x tippet. You won't get as many strikes but you will be able... More

Have to admist a bit of prejudice, as I live along the banks of the Beaverhead. But for river controlled by a Dam (Clark Canyon), it's a pretty sweet one. Something for everyone. Good fishing, good boating. Nice scenery. Lots of short day floats available. Pretty dependable water. Easy boating. Good access from FWP sites. Favorite thing to do: either... More

enjoy the fishing. Just head out of town and fish your way back in. There is a fishing area just about 1/4 mile out of town.
