We were only 'passing through' Butte, but arrived in time to catch the last trolley tour of the day. We have always found such tours helpful for either a quick and informative overview when time is limited, or to help set priorities when we have more time. Butte turned out to be a surprisingly interesting city. In addition to the... More

We tried to do a search of Butte before we went and there was nothing to do in this town. Unfortunately there were no previous reviews as there is tons to do in this town. Most of them are on a schedule so you need to pre-plan to get everything in. We went just because it was a different route... More

We went on a chilly day; dress for the weather. The guide was constantly giving great info. It's a very efficient way to see the town. Take the tour early in your visit, so you can take note of the places you want to go back to.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of Butte history. We had a good introduction to many different areas of Butte, and also were given tips on places to go back and check out. Our guide was born and raised in Butte so he was able to answer everyone's questions, even the "off the wall" difficult ones. We arrived late, just... More

I have been on this Trolley Tour 3 or 4 times. My husband and I have a place in Montana and I like to take our visitors on the Trolley. There is a lot of history packed into this small city tour and the guide is extremely knowledgeable. You see some of the oldest parts of town, the Berkeley Mining... More

Chris a local history teacher was our tour guide. Along with the regular explanation of all the attractions we saw, he used his vast knowledge base of the community to entertain us with anecdotes and stories. His love for the community and his passion showed through with every turn and every tid bit he told. His pride in his school... More

Tours like this are so very dependent upon the tour guide. Ours was just OK--I think the tour has potential, but it isn't something I'd recommend as a MUST DO in Butte

Per reviews on Trioadvisor my husband and I took the trolley tour and really glad we did. From the moment our trolley guide strapped on his microphone at the beginning of the tour until we disembarked at the end he talked nonstop about the city of Butte and its history. So interesting! The tour takes its tour mainly in what... More

Excellent . . . well worth 90 minutes and $15/person. We saw many things we would not have seen otherwise, our guide pointed out numerous places to go visit, and, being a geologist himself, he was exceptionally knowledgeable in answering our questions about load frames, mining, etc. This INCLUDES a visit to the Benjamin Pit Overlook, so you don't need... I arrived in Butte on a Sunday and most tourist places are closed. A friend had told me to take the trolley. Best advise! I was able to use my Sunday afternoon to "get a lay of the land", so Monday I had a plan of where to go. Start your trip this way!
