We had an afternoon to spend in Bozeman while passing through to our campground. We looked up the Museum of the Rockies but didn't feel like spending $60 for or family. We found the Pioneer Museum in downtown Bozeman. Such a great find! Kids are free and adults are $5. The museum is housed in an old jailhouse so the... More

Great place to visit a lot of history resides in this building and the price is very reasonable. You can see canons to quilts.

the Pioneer Museum, now named The Gallatin History Museum are one and the same. Great little museum, housed in the original county jail, built in 1911. We are RVers and always amazed at the information and artifacts one can find in these smaller museums. Also impressive are the volunteers who spend hours of their time to bring to fruition these... The Pioneer Museum in downtown Bozeman is a walk through the early history of Montana, especially the area of Bozeman. I took time to read the cards in front of every exhibit and was very surprised at the historical details. The connections to Lewis and Clark and Yellowstone are right there to investigate. The building used to be an old... More

Tells so much about the history of Montana! We learned more about the earthquake in 1959. Can't wait to visit again in 2015.

We were looking for something to do since we had some time to burn. We really enjoyed this museum. It is much larger than it looks and is full of history from the Bozeman area. This must be on your list if you enjoy history

We got to this little gem of a museum far too late! We only got to spend about an hour at this museum but you could easily spend the majority of a day here. It was an awesome little museum with some fantastic staff!! Do not miss this wonderful piece of history in Bozeman!

This museum has tons of history inside. Small looking building houses many artifacts and really cool information. Very small fee to enter, I think $5.00.

I brought my students here for a field trip, and this place was awesome. They visited MOR before this museum, and I was afraid they were going to be bored. They were far from it! They loved all of the interactive exhibits, as well as all of the artifacts and information available. What a fantastic find! My new favorite place... More

Located in a picturesque & largely original building - the former Jail - this museum is largely staffed by volunteers and provides a unique opportunity to explore local and regional history. The archives section serves as a great resource for those working on specific research or a particular topic; the staff are always helpful too. Often overshadowed by the larger... More
