Montana Troutfitters is my go to fly shop for anytime I need a guided trip. They handle everything and every request. My latest trip with old time guide Dave Kumlien was a great success on the Big Hole. This is a fly shop that personable and easy to deal with.

My brother and I spent four (4) full days on the water with Gary Behrent. We were treated like family members. He had lunch boxed and ready to go every morning. Absolutely took care of everything we needed on this trip. Even picked us up at the hotel. Went to three (3) different rivers and enjoyed minute of the trips.... More

Our family loves to fly fish although we have a range of likes and abilities. I love to catch trout on small water where I don't see any other anglers. On this trip my husband promised me he would find a guide who would listen to what I wanted and put me on the water I like. Montana Troutfitters delivered... More

My wife & I are beginners to fly fishing and wondered how we would be treated by the staff of the fly shop and the guide. We found all of the staff at Montana Troutfitters to be very friendly and extremely helpful, especially John McPherson. Our guide, Gary Behrent, was very patient, incredibly helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks to Gary,... More

Fished the Missouri and Upper Madison with head guide Gary Behrent. I've fished with, and shopped at Troutfitters at least thirty times in past seven years and can honestly say they are the best store with the most knowledgable guides in all of Southwest Montana. You need special requests filled, lodging booked on more remote or distant rivers, equipment repaired,... More

This outfit knows how to treat a customer. There's no doubt that many guide services can occasionally provide for a good or great day of fishing, but Montana Troutfitters' owner really want satisfaction, and should there be anything that's not really "to your liking" after the trip, they want to make it right. (personal experience) They go out of their... More

I had three great days fishing. The Madison, the Missouri and the Yellowstone. Although my guide was located through Troutfitters he is an individual contractor and works for other shops in the Valley. Jim (Redbeard) is not only a great boatsman but an extremely professional and competent guide. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to fish in the... More

We went on an all-day fly fishing float trip on July 8 with Rick Matney. It was both of ours first time and I didn't quite know what to expect but was down for the adventure. My fiancé is an avid salt-water fisherman back home in Hawaii and I myself don't get all excited at the thought of fishing like... More

Montana Troutfitters has a long history of serving anglers on our blue ribbon trout streams. There are many shops in the area and I am sure they all do a reasonable job but from my 16 years of experience, this shop is by far the best. It is run by expereinced fisherman who KNOW what flies to use to catch... More
