Bitter Creek Outfitters is a family-operated business providing scenic trail-rides just outside of Billings, Montana. On our guided tours, we'll treat you to a leisurely trek through the Montana countryside - atop the area's distinctive rimrocks, through ponderosa pines and fields full of wildflowers, mule deer and wild turkeys. We'll show you spectacular views of five different mountain ranges and a unique perspective of the city. Please email for more information. AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS APPLY. PLEASE SEE WEBSITE FOR DETAILS. Please note that we are a full-time ranch, part-time trail riding outfit so advanced reservations are required. We do not keep our horses saddled in the corral & ready to go! If we don't answer the phone, we may be out on a ride or working so please leave a message. Email is the best way to reach us. Season runs late April thru October, weather permitting. We schedule our rides for mornings, starting at either 8 or 9am and avoid afternoon rides during peak summer heat but we can be flexible with your travel plans. Let us know what works best & we'll do our best to fit you in!

We took a trail with Theresa two weeks ago. Despite having to prepare for a Wedding that day she kindly agreed to schedule us for an early morning 2 hour trial. The horses were really safe and calm, the weather was beautiful and the scenery breathtaking. Theresa took great care to ensure everyone was fine and enjoying their ride. Wonderful... More

Perfect horseback riding experience. Beautiful scenery. Laid back. The young lady who leads this is awesome. We had no experience and felt fine from the very start.

I had family in town from Minnesota and needed to stay in Billings for a family event even though they wanted to do a trail ride....my sister from Minnesota found Bitter Creek Outfitters online and who knew we could have such a wonderful experience just minutes from Billings! We were extremely pleased with the attention and the level of detail... More

I took my daughter for a horse ride here when we came to Billings. I had seen this place advertised well before we went on holiday and I had emailed the owners for details at the time. When we got nearer to Billings I contacted Theresa again and she arranged for us to visit. When we drove there we initially... More

This is a must do. Riding horses on a cattle ranch in Montana was on our bucket list during our recent visit to the region. Theresa and Sarah made our experience so much better (even with the slight hiccup of the stampeding livestock!) We highly recommend this as a true American experience. This was an incredible way to see the beautiful landscape of Montana. The horses were bombproof and Theresa was a very knowledgeable guide - a true cowgirl! She made everyone feel relaxed and was so easy to talk to. She was very aware to make sure the tack fit comfortably once the ride began and gave helpful hints along the... More

Just spent an excellent afternoon on a trail ride at the Bitter Creek. Theresa was a wonderful host. The horses are well maintained and everything is just as you would expect from a well managed outfit such as this. We will return to check if Steve has remembered his Welsh alphabet!!! Awesome service by the company. The horses were beautiful and very kind. The trail taken had amazing cliff views of the west and there was great history of the land. If we travel back to Billings, this would be the first thing we would do (again).

Passing through Billings. Found Bitter Creek on tripadvisor. Teresa did an excellent job of making us comfortable on the horses and as a guide along the scenic trail. Great views of the land. I would recommend calling or email for reservations. But sometimes she can fit people in like she did for us. September and October with cooler temps are... More
