We can't say enough great things about Gallatin River Guides and our Guide Bob! The whole experience was wonderful! My husband had been wanting to do something like this for years and just never got around to it. I decided I wanted to surprise him with a trip on our wedding anniversary. Our guide picked us up the morning of... More

I fished with Pat Straub of Gallatin River Guides on June 19th and 20th of 2014. It was a wonderful experience. We fished on a private trout stream on one day and then the upper Madison on the second day. It was a superb experience. Pat is knowledgeable, fun to fish with and he knows where the fish are located... More

We had a fantastic day fishing with Aaron on the Madison River. The staff were very informative, and we were able to truely learn how to fly fish. Every first time visitor to Big Sky should use them, you will not be disappointed!

I live in Panama so had to set up the trip from here...Jimmy was great to work with as was the owner Pat. Something different was that due to so much water up there you are offered a guide with specific knowledge of the rivers you want to fish. The Gallatin is right out their back door. Had a great... We started with entomology, Trey turning over rocks in the river showing me the "bugs" and matching their appearance with his flies. Then reading the river for fish. A lesson, and then a 12 inch rainbow in the net. First the Gallatin and 7 fish. The following week the Madison and 21 fish ending the day with a 18 inch... More

Having fished guided trips across the US for trout, striped bass, snook, tarpon, redfish, bonefish,etc- I more than likely have a higher fishing IQ than most the regular customer at Gallatin River Guides. For those who don't know what guiding is about, they would have no expectation. For those who do have an appreciation for guided fishing trips, I believe they would be sorely disappointed... More

This is the nicest fly shop in Big Sky and is conveniently located along the highway near the Gallatin river. I've been visiting Big Sky for the past 12 years or so and always make it a point to stop in. Great selection of flies and gear, always friendly service, and good, reliable guides. That's pretty much what makes a... More

I will start by saying we are not fishing people. We would not know a great fishing guide from a poor one. However, we do know a well run business when we encounter one. We decided it would be fun for three of us on a family vacation to go fly fishing. We looked at a couple of options, but... More

I have had the great pleasure of fishing with Gallatin River Guides on two separate occasions. Once in the winter and again this summer. Whether its with 3 beautiful feet of snow on the ground or in the beautiful Montana sun, no one knows the waters in Montana better than GRG. Pat and Mike are a blast. They will make... More

My family of 6 as well as two of my extended family members were served at the highest level by GRG. My two sons (23 and 20) spent three trips with their guide "Blake" - each trip was educational and filled with fish catching - two float trips on the Madison were the highlight for them. Blake did a great... More
