The size of this facility is great to not overwhelm, but you'll still get a great education while enjoying a top smaller zoo. The best part to me was the indigenous Ozark area. This place isn't too expensive either and they have some fun events throughout the year for families (i.e., Mom's free on Mothers' Day, Dad's free on Father's... More

An easy way to get exercise walking the paths to see all the wonderful animals living at the Zoo. It is obvious they are well cared for and are comfortable in their surroundings. Only in this setting are you able to see these types of animals up close in real life. A great joy for children too. The drinks and... More

I admit I was impressed at how big the Springfield zoo actually is. My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly quiet and very relaxing. You could take the time to actually see the animals (if they were actually out or close enough) and read the information without too many people crowding around. Some of... More

This zoo has giraffes you can feed! There is a platform where you can purchase crackers to feed them up close! We also had a "behind the scenes" tour and it was very informative. Is a small zoo, but our tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Nice zoo, not to hard walking through. Weather nice this time of year. Maybe could use more refreshment areas. Love the animals of course!!

We got a friend's of the zoo pass to take our kids here when we want. It is on the smaller size but is still great for the kids. If you live closer to any of the better zoos like Omaha or even kc it wouldn't be worth the trip. Even with five kids in tow it didn't take but... More

We went to the zoo in May 2015. I was so disappointed. I went with my sons school for a field trip; he was so excited! But he ended up pretty disappointed, too. There was one of each animal pretty much; 1 elephant, 1 fox, 1 coyote, 1 cheeta, 1 swan, etc and so on... A lot of the exhibits... More

My family and I went to this ZOO back in the beginning of April and it was awesome! We loved all of the animals and the zoo looked pretty well maintained! It was one of the highlights of our trip to Springfield.

For me, one of the justifications for caging animals in a zoo is education. The educational component should include conservation information for more than just the elephants and should include information on the concept of ecosystem. Although signs mention who eats whom, the info is random and the dots are not connected. The zoo relies heavily on cages and has... More

You can spend an hour or an entire day at this very well kept up Zoo... I have been here numerous times in the last 30+ years & have enjoyed watching it grow every year to the point it has grown to now.... Very cheap place to have an excellent time with your sweetheart or take the entire family, you... More
