Do you want to see lots of birds? That was my primary take-away from my visit to this zoo. I love zoos, but unfortunately this one failed to impress. Pros: Giraffe platform lets you get up close and personal. You can get fairly close to most of the animals for a good view. Peacocks roam freely around the zoo, letting... More

This zoo is very quaint. It has a nice path to follow with some nice places for little ones to stop and play. A great place to go for a few hours especially with little kids.

I've been several times and even on the best day, only half the animals were visible. The giraffes, reptile house, birds, and island monkeys are the only constantly visible animals. Everything else has hiding houses that they prefer to stay in. Every other zoo I have been to puts the Springfield zoo to shame. Don't spend the money for a... More

This is A nice zoo 4 a small city. We have season family passes which is a good deal. There's a nice giraffe feeding platform and the Tigers and Wolf exhibit always seems to be active, up close, and personal. Can't really see the zebras and the bears in their exhibits .

Grew up with St. Louis zoo(free), so my bar is set pretty high. DPZ was pretty good, smaller but overall good. Only took us about 2 hours to see it all) Feeding the giraffes was fun.

Thank you for posting a review of your visit to Dickerson Park Zoo. We greatly admire our colleagues at Saint Louis Zoo. The two zoos, while both accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, offer different experiences. And, the size and scope of our park is scaled to fit our community size and available funding. We hope you'll continue... More

I liked the set up which a large variety of animals were set in a easy to walk environment. It circled back around to the refreshment stand so if u were wearing out or needed a drink it was easy access. Time spent to view animals was 2-3 hours and the admission price was just right.

My Daughter & I took my 2 grandkids here & they loved it. My Granddaughter does have a lot of health issues, but this zoo is handicap accessible & easy to get around in. It's just the right size for a good fun filled visit without being too overwhelming for my Granddaughter. I plan on taking them back whenever we... More

We made a trip with our kids on dollar day and it was okay. We have been taking the kids from the time my first daughter was born 14 years ago.. And it has not really had any updating in all that time.. I wish they would add some new areas or a better kids zone.. On hot days it's... More

Thank you for your concern about our giraffe. The one you saw with the injured foot ("Cheka") came to Dickerson Park Zoo in May 1995. She injured her foot somehow during transit from San Diego. So, for the 19 years she has been here our keepers have provided care for the injury. Occasionally, the scar tissue sloughs off or opens... More

Visited Dickerson park zoo July 2014. Our family and 2 year old son came with us. The gate entry is roughly $10, staff very helpful and friendly. The zoo is just big enough, and has a little bit of everything. For the price,we were very happy with our visit. We have been to other larger center zoo's which take you... More
