I have been here several times after moving to Springfield. I love to walk in the woods and the numerous trails accommodate the beginning to the advanced hiker. A map is present at the start of the trails showing the terrain and length of each trail. You are sure to see wild turkeys up close. The deer have no fear... More

Nice education center and often a special educational offering. There are several hikes down to lake Springfield. Only problem is that the parking lot and educational center are at the top of the hill, so you always have to end your hike uphill. Some trails are dirt and some are mulched or paved.

The Nature Center has nice exhibits inside the visitor center and some nice trails as well. If you watch the calendar and are in the area, they've got interesting programs throughout the year.

Just a great day outside, they also have a learning center for the kids, but every age would enjoy it the center. The walk is peaceful and relaxing, you also can learn without knowing it. Must do

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is a hidden gem in Springfield. I moved into a nearby neighborhood two years ago and can reach the nature center spur trail off of the Ozark Greenways Biking/Walking trail in 15 minutes. Lucky me!! The Nature Center information/welcome building sits on a bluff above Lake Springfield. The conservation folks who work there are extremely... More

We saw a ton of birds (cardinals, woodpeckers) and squirrels. We also saw 2 turkeys, very close. My 6 and 3 year olds loved it! We went on a couple of the trails where we saw a deer, two different times. We also had my son who is in a wheelchair and everything was very accessible. Both trails we went... More

So much to do. The trails have been greatly improved over the years. There are so many settings here. There are woods, rivers, a lke, and there is a cave that sits out in the middle,

My wife and I use to live in Springfield and we often comment on this being the one thing we miss most about the city. It is a great outdoor nature center that offers a wide variety of activities.

Great walking trails through wooded areas, by lake, over bridges, along river -- short and long trails available. Nature center building with exhibits, bird watching, gift shop. Fun for all ages! Great way to spend an afternoon.
