We love Montauk State Park. I grew up doing vacations here every year, and love to trout fish. Fishing requires a MO state fishing license, and then a daily tag which is $3.00. The park is beautiful with lots of scenery & wildlife. There is also a trout hatchery on the grounds that the kids love because they can feed... More

A great representation of Missouri Outdoors. Offers trout fishing for a daily fee. Or just wander the trails, the lodge, or the fish hatchery. Cabins or camping spots are available.

This park is nestled between two large ridges and is the headwaters of the Current river. Lots of trees and animals to see. Be sure to take a little bit of a walk to the rearing ponds located past the Conservation office. This is where they keep the "lunkers" and when you throw in the fish food it is like... More

Montauk is one of our favorite state parks. The grounds are well maintained and the camp sites of reasonable size. Besides the trout fishing, there is plenty for the kids to do.

The lodge is located on spring fed streams nestled in the rolling hills and cliffs of Missouri. Such wonderful views with miles of trout fishings streams. The fly fishing hère is second to none in the whole of North America. The lodge has a great resturant that will prepare your catch of the day and has an excellent menu, in... More

I hadn't been to Montauk for years and went down for a day of catch and release trout fishing in January, 2015. The setting was beautiful. I caught several good fish and saw several bald eagles. And...I had a great lunch at the café. Although we were just down for the day, I drove through the camp grounds and was... More

Went there to let the kids blow some steam off - once we got them away from the folks who were actually trying to fish... things improved all around. :) Great, clean facilities - playgrounds for the kids, friendly folks at the store/lodge/restaurant, and the kids were just amazed when they got to see the trout in the hatchery getting... We stopped in at Montauk State Park a couple of times again this past weekend. It's the weekend before Halloween, so they were having their Haunted Grist Mill - Voices from the Past. The old grist mill was "haunted" by non-scarey ghosts that told the history and original operation of the mill and surrounding developments. They had three scheduled appearances... More

Usually go twice a year. Once in March and again in October. Always a good experience. Facilities are good and relatively clean. I tent camp and the park is in excellent condition for this. Can get crowded on the river in some areas at times especially near the horn time. Have never hiked in the park, but have visited the... More
