Hawn State Park is one of the loveliest parks in a system full of lovely parks. Clear, sand-bottomed streams, wild areas ripe with orchids and awe-inspiring views combine to make Hawn a place that Missourians treasure. Geology buffs love Pickle Creek for the number of exposed rock types. Hikers frequent the Whispering Pine Wild Area for its quiet trails with expansive views. Bird watchers flock to the park for its variety of birds. And there are plenty of quiet spaces for people to get away and enjoy the outdoors.

Moderate Trails loop throughout the park offering beautiful vista views and traversing babbling brooks/streams. trails are sand - to rock with exposed roots and loose rock, covered in pine needles or leaves depending on the season. trailheads are clearly marked, but at times on the trail you are uncertain if you are still on the trail. take a map and... The Pickle Creek Trail was beautiful. It's .70 miles each way. I usually prefer a loop, but this trail was worth it. We hiked a little further on one of the connectors and climbed some awesome bluffs. Beautiful views in the Fall. Some of the rocks get rough to climb so take your time. I recommend hiking boots.

Great for families or couples or just to be alone. Wonderful hiking trails along a stream. It's pretty rocky and difficult in places.

This is a premier state park located in the wine country about an hour and a half south of St.Louis. I say premier because of the well kept grounds, very clean showers, and services like ice and firewood all available and brought around by a staff member in a golf cart. Hiking trails and Pickle Creek all right there make... More

Lots of hiking trails...but not really what I was expecting. It was slightly better than average but I won't go so far as to say Very Good. Go a little further to Pickle Springs!

From the tall, tall pine trees, to the bubbling cold springs and rock formations, the perfect place to visit to get back to nature. We drive to Hawn several times a year whenever we feel we need a good break from the hustle and bustle of life. We will often see the deer roaming free even on the road into... More

The visitors center was not opened when we visited the park, but there were maps of the trails with a good description of the path to take and what to expect. We did the 2 mile hike that started off on whispering pines trail and then broke off onto the pickle creek trail. This was a nice hike with about... More

A great relaxing hike, only a few miles and well covered with many trees to provide some great shade during the walk.

One of our favorite places to go walking. The trails are pretty and varied. Large rocks to climb on, upper terrain to climb, and easy flat walking areas.
