Lots of restaurant choices, A fantastic family atmosphere. A safe feeling while walking around the area. A truly destination location if you are near the Gateway Arch.

Laclede's Landing has great views of the Mighty Mississippi River. Just be careful when walking down the sidewalks and roads as for it being in the older part of the city it still has cobblestone roads and sidewalks and the sidewalks also are not level the whole time and do have "pot whole"-like spots where the pavers have sunken into... We were in town for the weekend, visiting St. Louis because we've never been before. We actually discovered this area while looking for a place to park for the arch. We walked here on Saturday in the late afternoon from our hotel which was a couple of blocks away. We actually really enjoyed this area. I'm a sucker for any... More

No awesome food. No awesome stores. Nothing special. Old cobblestone streets, so I wouldn't recommend wearing heels.

We were only there on a Monday afternoon, so there wasn't much 'action' happening, but did really enjoy a nice meal at an out-door cafe (where a lady could actually have a drink AND a cig TOGETHER!!) Looks like a fun spot, and was definitely a welcome respite after seeing the Arch....and chance to cool off after the crowds and... More

We took in the annual Muddy River Blues Festival on the Landing and enjoyed great music within walking distance of our hotel with several thousand of our closest friends. Loved the location and atmosphere of the Landing and it is the perfect location for this event.

The tall imposing Fine Art Palace of the World Fair of 1904, was retained to house the art museum. At the entrance of the imposing building in the midst of the verdant Forest Park, one is greeted by the majestic , equestrian statue of the French emperor, Louis the xiv , for whom the city was named as St. Louis.... The landing is only about a block in size, and is home to restaurants and bars. It is within easy walking distance from the arch, and the food is pretty good here. The restaurants have some nice outdoor seating, and some bars even have shuttles to the Cards games. This isn't anything special, but the brick buildings and cobble stone... More

Laclede's Landing has a historic background, but that's not apparent upon walking through. There's nothing there now but restaurants and bars, many of them terribly overcrowded. The Old Spaghetti Factory is one of the few that I consider to be worthy of a visit. The Landing is within walking distance of the Arch, so can be a convenient diversion afterwards.

Just like the other recent posts, don't go out of your way. If you are in the area visiting the Arch, there is a convenient parking garage which costs $6 for the entire day. It's a short walk to the Arch and then Laclede's Landing is on the opposite side of that parking garage. If you are in the area... More
