Unless you visit during the fourth of July weekend for Fair Saint Louis, this is a very ordinary park. You are much better off in Forest Park to spend a day.

You won't get the full effect of this property unless you're atop the Gateway Arch. The park is manicured to perfection! My now husband and I took our engagement photos in this park!

A great place to spend the day is The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park. We visited on our way home from Branson. There were ten people in our party, our grown children and our grandchildren. We stayed in a motel just over the border in Illinois the night before and got up early to drive back in to St. Louis to see the memorial, specifically the Gateway Arch.

Cute little park in the middle of downtown - with view of the Arch and the Old Courtroom - next door to the Hyatt and Drury Hotels. Park benches offer a nice place to sit and relax.

The view from the arch is incredible. The engineering that went into it is amazing! The museum below includes some great history of the Lewis and Clark expeditions and westward expansion, as well as local St.. Louis history. The museum is free, the trip to the top of he arch $10. Absolutely worth every penny. Exceptional!

We have visited the park a few times in order to see the Gateway Arch and the underground museums. It has always been clean; however, a pond area has been under construction for quite a while, leaving a cement drop-off into an empty basin -- watch the little ones here!
