Since I learned that William Clark was buried here I have been wanting to visit. Finally, on the coldest day of the year I was able to go. We were the only people there which was nice. I do want to go back when it's spring and also do the civil war tour. We obtained a map from the office... More

At first you may be put off by touring a cemetery. However, this is an absolutely don't miss. Whether you live in the St Louis Region or a a visitor, the Cemetery provides historic tours during all times of the year. A truly rare find in any location. I have visited many times and learn something during each visit.

Stop at the gate/office and get a walking tour of the cemetery. The history is fantastic. I travel the world and see cemeteries from ever generation, but the monument and tombstone at Bellefountaine are great. Enjoy the walk through history.

Stopped by while staying in town for a staycation. Have heard a lot of ads on KMOX for this place, so decided to go check it out. It didn't disappoint. Large grounds with a lot of large and beautiful monuments. Many well known folks buried here. Suggest you pick up the guide book at the office when you first come... More

A real surprise. It sets beautifully in an older part of the city. We visited in the morning. There is a reception and staff there. A tour can be arranged. It is a really surprise how many icons from our past are now resting there.

Yes, its a beautiful cemetery but why would anyone want to come here just to visit? It's not in the best neighborhood and its still a cemetery.

If you love grand old cemeteries - GO! This cemetery takes you back to a time when society gave the deceased fitting tributes of granite that last. The photographic possibilities are endless. This cemetery is huge, plan for extra time to take it all in. I have been many times over the years and still have not seen it all!

Our guide Kathleen made this a very interesting and fun 2 hour tour. There are many interesting monuments and famous people buried. The grounds are beautiful and all the stories and history made for a memorable day. Thanks to Kathleen for a great outing. We may go back for a "Tour of the Civil War" history. Friends asked us to a charity event held at Bellefontaine Cemetery. I wasn't expecting much to be honest. They had tour guides waiting as we arrived. We walked the tour, which during the day is available with a self guided tour pamphlet and painted lines on the roads. I had no idea of the number of famous people in this... More

I love visiting centuries for the landscaping, and beautiful headstones and mausoleums. I could have spent an entire afternoon in this cemetery. Even my boyfriend, who wouldn't have picked this stop LOVED it as much as I did. Picked up a free guide in the office and purchased the guide for notable women. If you have limited time, head straight... More
