This cemetery is very large and open. Though the map(s) can be very confusing, the self-guided tour is worth it. If you are a history buff, then Bellefontaine Cemetery is a great historical place to visit in St. Louis. Grab a map, get out of the car, and take a trip through history. The Wainwright Tomb and the Lemp Mausoleum... More

Interesting and historical cemetery; this is a driving and walking tour; suggest a guide due to the history of some of the people laid to rest there.

Beautiful grounds with mausoleums and graves with many historic St. Louis family names - Busch, Anheuser, Cupples, Lammert to name a few. Was a bit hard to find specific graves without a map. Lovely place to take a few minutes to decompress and gather your thoughts.

Was told about the cemetery by a taxi driver and I was intrigued! When a taxi driver suggests a cemetery, it must be worth a visit. So we went on a Sunday afternoon in spring. My husband, myself and the dogs. We were pleasantly surprised. The grounds are beautiful, wonderful for a walk. Many many trees planted, a number of... More

We heard that there was a Louis Sullivan designed mausoleum here and that it was worth seeing. We were very surprised that there were no markings to find it. It's a lovely cemetery, we just could have done without the 1/2 hour of driving around to find what we were looking for. It's not in a great part of town... More

Giant - really giant cemetery. Looks like people all over St. Louis are just dying to get in... This town has more churches and cemeteries that any city I've ever seen!

I'd love to go back and do some of the their other tours. We were visiting St. Louis for the US Grant Symposium and this was one event offered. We were almost too late due to a misunderstanding on my part. We received some great information about people who served in or were part of the civil war era in... More

With the printed material, we found many interesting sites of famous military, St Louis citizens. The material also provided interesting facts about the ones resting there.

I visited the cemetery on a snowy February day. The roads in the cemetery were not plowed and were slick in places but with all-wheel drive it was fine. The cemetery was a creepy winter wonderland. The mausoleums were beautiful and it was hard not to get out of the car and peer into every one. That would take days... More
