California might have a cemetery with many celebrities but it's got nothing on this point of interest in the "Show me state". You will find Senators, M. Clark of "Lewis and Clark" and the founder of Anheiser Busch to name a few. The trek is an easy meandering drive through the cemetery with a map explaining with markers popular residence... More

The cemetery was easy to find an interesting to explore. The office provided reference maps for driving through the three+ miles of cemetery grounds. It is a beautiful layout with numbered markers denoting graves of special significance (William Clark and his family, the founder of Anhauser Busch and his family, many Civil War veterans). The tombs, headstones, and family plots... More

My friends suggested I go to this cemetery while my wife was at a convention. It was well worth the drive from University City. The rolling hillside it perfect for featuring a huge Selection of tombstones of a every type. The presentation using the provided brochure lets one see not only the famous people buried there, but the selection of... More

Visited on a bright Sunday day afternoon. This place was beautiful! Stopped at the office ladies working were very helpful. They have maps with a walking tour of different trees and those buried. Found out you could down load an app to use while visiting. Would come back for a longer visit, so much to see.

Thank you Don for a great walking tour. Very informative and interesting. Didn't realize all the famous or infamous people buried there. He even had tidbits and facts about the people, trees and markings. But the two hour tour didn't cover everything which made me stay and tour some of the others things Don mentioned. A great day hanging with... More

Bellefontaine Cemetery is a beautiful place. In the spring, you can smell the flowers and tree blossoms. In the fall, you can see all of the different colors of leaves. As you stroll the quiet, meandering roads of the cemetery you can marvel at the architecture and the artistry of bygone ages. Bellefontaine Cemetery bills itself as a Botanical Garden... More

Do you love history or art? If you do you'll love this place. Many famous people here. Adolphus Bush is here as well as his father in law Eberhard Anheuser. If you don't know who they are, they are the founders of Budweiser beer. William Clark of Lewis & Clark. Robert Brooking of the Brookings Institute. The founders of Buster... More

I love visiting this cemetery. The history of our city is apparent, and it is beautiful no matter the time of year. My son enjoys exploring and it is always peaceful; great for photography. Many monuments are impressive and it's worth it to walk around and really check everything out.

This peaceful cemetery was stunning! I was cold, wet and hungry but that did not matter. I studied the cemetery since July waiting all those months to visit there. I was in St. Louis on business and an extra early flight in permitted me the time I needed to absorb and enjoy. Although I prefer a sunny warm day, the... More

This cemetery is very large and open. Though the map(s) can be very confusing, the self-guided tour is worth it. If you are a history buff, then Bellefontaine Cemetery is a great historical place to visit in St. Louis. Grab a map, get out of the car, and take a trip through history. The Wainwright Tomb and the Lemp Mausoleum... More
