The museum has several floors of rooms which were constructed with furniture and implements of the period. Also had a lot of Civil war weapons and memorabilia. Was maintained by a lot of dedicated volunteers. There was a carousel at the rear with unusual hand carved animals. Very reasonable entry fee. We will stop back and go through again if... More

We spent a morning at the Patee House museum, which may be the most interesting thing in St Joseph, MO. It is housed in a luxury, civil war era hotel, in what is now a nearly vacant part of St Joseph. It has two floors of significant memorabilia that include items on early St Joseph industrial history, railroad history complete... More

One of the best museums I have been in. Old 1858 luxury hotel that was the starting point for the pony express is filled with historical displays that are very interesting. Very worth the price of admission. Take your time and enjoy this magnificent place.

My son and I spent an hour and a half here. The exhibits are varied but include a lot about the area. This was the starting point for the Pony Express, where they picked up the mail packs before heading west.

You get an opportunity to see and engage in some of our nation's history with a trip to Patee House. It's also located next to some other great sites, such as, Jesse James' house.

This is a neat place to see the history of St. Joseph. It is interesting for all ages. I have gone with family, as well as taken class field trips.

Loved the history. In another part of the city. Get good direction or use GPS worth going. About 4-6 miles from Dury Inn

What a great place to learn! Plan on spending some time, because there is so very much to see. The exhibits are well laid out and cover a wide variety of life in the latter half of the 19th century and some early 20th century. By far worth the price of admission. And going to the Jesse James house in... More

So much to see in this historical gem. The building is fascinating. The displays are full of information. Be sure to take enough time to see it all...do NOT rush through, you'll miss something wonderful. And be sure to pay the extra to see the Jesse James house, too. It was really interesting. The gentleman selling tickets was a treasure... More
