It would probably be safe to say that the Patee House is one of the 50 most historic structures in the 25 westernmost states. In its century and a half plus lifetime the building has been everything from a luxury hotel to a sanitarium. It is best known as headquarters of the important Russell, Majors & Waddell freighting company company,... More

There is so much to see here and so little time. You will really need several hours to visit this place, and I still don't know that you could take it all in. Great history of Missouri and Missourians in addition to St. Joseph. The building has a great story also, and don't forget to ride the carousel!

The Pattee House Museum has quite a collection of interesting items, especially for a museum in a small city. It has a surprisingly good collection of early native American indian artifacts.

What a treat! This museum is HUGE! So much great stuff, almost too much. I went room to room, and I know I still missed things. The carousel alone is worth the visit, it was beautiful. A must see if in the area.

There is a very large variety of things to see here. Lots of antiques in their original settings, a full sized carousel, trains, and much much more. You can even visit Jesse James home next door. I probably will not go back again now that I've seen it, but it was an enjoyable and interesting way to spend an afternoon.

Would never guess that Patee House was so large and interesting. Much more than just a restored mansion. Something for everyone. Well worth your time when in St. Joseph.

Very nice museum! I'd love to go back and spend more time there, since I was on a time constraint during my last visit. Quite a large place with lots of historical significance. It was worth the money, and the people who worked there were very helpful.

Patee House is quite a place. Displays everywhere about everything! This is your one-stop museum experience. It has a full carousel, stage couch, horse drawn hearse, antique gas station equipment, a race car, a locomotive, a cannon, period shops from the area, beautifully furnished period rooms and a saloon etc, etc, etc - and, to top off it was the... You really need to put this place on the top of your list for thing to do while in St. Joseph. If you are the least bit intrested in history or antiques, this is the place for you. There is so much to see that if you walked through this place 3 times you would see something new each time.... More

This is the one museum in Saint Joseph that must not be missed. The way they encourage you to fully understand each of the different vignets. Looking for what should not be there is a wonderful exercise for young and old.
