I don't know how this place is still in business. Gary Chilcote is the owner of this unorganized and crumbling museum, and he does whatever he can to get visitors to leave as soon as possible. The building itself is disgusting, as there have been several instances of mouse droppings, large cockroaches, and even bats. This is especially unacceptable from a... More

This was a fascinating tour and well worth the nominal fee. A beautiful piece of history. Lots of local history. We could have easily spent 3-4 hours there.

I was born in St. Joe so the Patee House Museum is a special place to me. Filled with interesting artifacts including St. Joseph memorabilia, art, Pony Express, steam locomotive, merry go round and more. A very nice place to visit when in the Kansas City/St. Joseph Missouri area. Go Chiefs!!

This is St. Joe. The proprietor has spent a lifetime collecting and recreating 20th century culture. You could spend all day just hear, especially if like to read as well as see...

Came just to ride the carousel and it was fabulous! Absolutely great creatures to ride, up and down, or just standing still. A little pricey.

As an avid traveller, I love finding gems!. Patee House is warm & inviting and allows visitors time & space to learn about US History and local culture in an intimate warm setting. Great displays with just the right amount of info to enjoy/learn or to pique your historian interest to learn more! Don't miss it! Pure Americana.

That is, if you can put up with sadness of run-down historic St. Joseph, you will enjoy the Museum very much. The carousel is a darling, exhibits, train, the wing with “streets of old St. Jo” very interesting. But the surrounding area is heartbreaking. We arrived on a Sunday and waited for them to open until noon. The area looked... More
