this museum covers the westward expansion in a fun and interesting way including a full size train indoors and many western artifacts.
The Patee House Museum is a fascinating and very detailed museum. This museum has something for everyone of all ages. Replicas of small town Main Street businesses, a real steam engine, train depot, a working carousel, saloon with player piano, toy room, electronics room, early telephone system, and various rooms displaying furnishings popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s.... I have loved this museum since I was a young wipper snapper... It has incredable local and world wide history.
Located only an hour from Kansas City this is a great place to stop for families & adults alike! You really need to set aside a full day to see everything in this huge building. How many other places can brag that they hold a stagecoach, a small town, a carousel, a real steam engine with cars, automobiles, and so... More

Along with the Pony Express Museum and the Jesse Jane's House this is well worth a weekend trip for anyone interested in history. A must see. Still trying to figure out how... More

Best bit of all was the room with paintings on wood of famous western characters and a concise biography of each one underneath the painting -... More
