Worth the visit. A plethora of viewing pleasures for the history buff. Some more recent artifacts will give you a chuckle.

I tried to see this but wasn't let in because they closed on half an hour. That would have been enough time for me. They shouldn't advertise being open till 4 when they close at 3:30. From what I could see from the front desk the collection may be more for children. The pony express museum was very good, as... More

Interesting stuff for everyone and all ages. Could spend a couple hours there easily. Don't drive by St. Joe without stopping here. Jesse James' house is right behind this museum. Then go to the funeral museum to see the Jesse James' corpse basket from 1882 and the book where they signed, "Mr. Jesse James killed."

There are so many artifacts and antiques in this museum. The first floor is set up like a small town main street, with a general store, dentist's office, etc. There is also a regular sized Locomotive. The old ballroom on the second floor is worth seeing, as well as the many antiques. This museum is well set up, and even... More

We found this place on trip advisor. This place has a lot of interesting things to see. From pharmacy, trains, civil war, toys, and fire trucks there is something for everyone. Great place for kids or adults and reasonably priced.

we stopped by on Memorial Day not sure if it would be open (website is somewhat sparse). It is an old hotel jammed with little rooms filled with antiques with different themes (drug store, police, radios, etc.). high quality antiques. many of the rooms had a "what doesn't belong here" sign for young kids to try to find the one... This place is amazing! The effort that has made to preserve and present our Midwest history is amazing. There is something to catch everyone's interest and when you finish, you can go next door and see Jesse James' house!

I live in St. Joseph but it has been probably 12 years since I have been to Patee House Museum. My grandchildren were in town (ages 17 and 11) so decided to go. Truly a very good experience for them and me. They liked the exhibits where they had to pick out something that did not belong - such as... More

You could immerse yourself for days in this museum and not see everything! That have something for everyone to the point that it overwhelms. The fact that the original Pony Express ride started here is just a big plus. Whatever time you think you'll spend here, multiply by 2 or 3 - it's that good.
