We were visiting our son at Ft. Leonardwood and decided to see what was available in the area to do. Came across the Smallin Civil war cave. Our guide was Eric. He was great. Funny and smart! The cave is beautiful and they take great care to keep it as natuaral as possible. well worth the trip!

So worth the time and money. Our family visited near closing time and Kevin, our enthusiastic tour guide, gave us one of the best historical cave tours we've been on! He shared cave information, showing all kinds of fossils and archeological finds as well as giving us a colorful history of the cave from the time of "original home owners".... More

Cool place run by a family that purchased the cave and reopened to the public after many years. The main cave has a large opening and is rather deep. The guides are pretty knowledgable and are very courteous. The pathways are paved and elevated off the cave floor. They will be wet, but are not slippery. There is a small... More

found this Cave on Tripadvisor looking for things to do around Springfield. Never heard of it before. Its not a big tour like some of the other well known caves in the area but its nice because it is still all natural without the lights and show. Beautiful walk to the cave entrance. the owners are very friendly and tour... More

This place was amazing. The tour guides are wonderful and informative. It is a relaxed atmosphere and an informal experience. It was incredible to hear about the history behind the cave. We ended up with the owner as our tour guide. He is great fun. His name is Kevin. We will be back for the Wild tour. I liked this... More

What a beautiful cave and the guided tour is very informative. I loved it! Ready to go again. It is a nice walk to the cave and the guide stops along the way to tell you some history. The path to the Cave is nice and smooth and wide enough for couples or strollers or even wheelchairs. The owners are... More

This cave has a lot to offer from the natural perspective. I have seen many caves before and this one certainly ranks amongst the best! The tour guide was also fantastic. He clearly knew his material and made it evident where he got his information (be it from professionally hired archaeologists/geologists or from historical texts). I would certainly visit this... Our family group ranged from toddlers to grandparents, and everyone had a great time. The tour moved at a good pace, and Kevin (owner and guide) kept it entertaining. He brought the history to life with stories and personal connection, involving the kids and making it special for them. The length of the trip was short for a cave walk,... More

Archeologically and historically interesting. Beautiful too! We will return in a while as they continue to expand and explore.
