I was booking with that operator (http://www.cano-cristales.com/) and they gave me a confirmation. I was happy and booked a flight from Bogota to La Macarena. One day later they called me and canceled the tour, because of no more space at the park. I wanted to have the money back for the flight, cause it was their fault with the... More

It takes a bit of work to get there, but the flight, the boat ride, the 4x4 and then the walk all adds to the experience. This trip is not for the person who is afraid of getting dirt under his/her finger nails. You will have to cross rivers waist deep and slush through mud. But the water at the... More

This is an expensive trip and it was to be the highlight of our month in Colombia. We loved our holiday but this so disappointing in every aspect. Our timings and Medellín base meant that we had to do 5 days / 4 nights. The details: Day 1 - flight from Medellín was great, though late Airport tax of COP... More

You can visit Cano Cristales from July to December. Various tour operators - Cano Cristales, Colombia Oculta, Aventure Colombia - organize 2-6 days trips to Cano Cristales offering a complete package: flight, accommodation, transportation, local guides. The small planes leave from Bogota Catam airport and after a one hour flight you arrive to La Macarena, a small village. There are... More

Incredible place that is very special to the Colombians. However you need to go over sunny days if you can manage it! Don't expect your guides to speak English so it helps if you speak Spanish or have someone who can translate in the group. We were lucky to have 2 Colombians who spoke perfect English and could interpret for... More

if you want to see the sky before his death or escape to a paradise on earth, you should certainly go to "caño cristales ", ( the river of five colors or the rainbow melted) However, to get to heaven you will have to be willing to walk and connect with nature.

One of the more special places I have visited in my life. The river itself is beautiful and unique. The best time to visit is August to appreciate the variety of colors. You should go at least 2 days to enjoy this place and the small town La Macarena, that is where you stay during the visit.

We (wife, brother, sister in law, and I) drove from Bogota to Villavicencio great highway (do not speed in the tunnels, there are speeding cameras), spent the night at Villavicencio Plaza had cocktails in the roof bar, very cool. Had "mamona" for dinner in a local restaurant that is the typical dish in Villavicencio. Next day early morning we drove... More

Caño Cristales is a river located in the Macarena province in Clombia. The river is commonly called "The River of Five Colours" or "The Liquid Rainbow", and is even referred to as the most beautiful river in the world due to its striking colours. The river from July - November is flushed in gaudy colours, including yellow, green, blue, black,... More

My boyfriend and I visited Cano Cristales with a 4 day tour by Colombia Oculta. The organisation of the trip was good, all the more since we only booked it one day ahead. It was quite an expensive trip, but we are not sure if it would have been cheaper arranging it ourselves. You could off course try it if... More
