I have attended lectures and other events at the Central Library and it is an outstanding library. The books are vast and the building has 5 floors with each used for a variety of purposes. I go 3 or 4 time a month for various venues and enjoy them very much. They have a film library where one can enjoy... More

We don't live close & haven't visited frequently. We haven't even been able to browse the book shelves yet because we're always there with groups of children. But WoW! What a beautiful place we have in Kansas City! We've attended with student groups for the children's shows and have been very impressed. Thank you, KC Public Library, for investing in... More

The building is magnificent. It used to be a bank, so in the basement there is this huge vault that is now being used as a mini-theater, and the film collection is stored there. It is such a lovely building to walk around, but there is a marvelous collection of books and exhibits too. We saw a very touching photography... More

I love walking past this library. More specifically the parking garage right next door is lined with giant book covers, featuring classic books. The interior also has beautiful architecture including the old bank vault. Worth dropping in!

The Plaza and Downtown Libraries are particularly nice. Whether looking for something to read, need to rent an event space or take advantage of the varied special events, I have never been disappointed.

I've seen much better libraries for selection, but this library has great events and is a wonderful attraction in its own right. The building is both gorgeous and whimsical. We love the video vault downstairs, the art hall, the children's section, and of course the giant chess board and views on the roof. Take a picnic lunch to eat on... More

I love the downtown library. The architecture in there is wonderful and many places you can relax and read a book. Also a great place to book an event.

The pictures of what looks like books on a shelf is the outside of the parking structure. The library itself is very open, and actually very empty. I don't think this is a really destination in Kansas City, but we did use the restrooms and they were very nice and clean.
