I stopped in the library after seeing that they were currently showing two exhibits I was interested in seeing. The first was called 'Apron Strings' which was a collection of various vintage aprons which have been very well preserved. The collection was lovely and included bits of background and history on each one. Very enjoyable. The other exhibit which was... More

We didn't go inside just took pictures in front of the books painted on wall. Loved it! Would recommend to have pictures done in front of them.

It is worth going by to see the front of the building. It looks like large classic books. picture worthy.

Beautiful historical buillding right around the edge of the Power & light district. Love the European style columns and the chandeliers. Def. worth stopping by if you enjoy this type of architectural design.

Went to the Country Club Plaza branch for a speaking engagement by Amanda Ripley, author of The Smartest Kids in the World. Not only was this event FREE, but prior to lecture, FREE reception and the auditorium space was so comfortable. Felt like I was truly a guest in this facility. What a GREAT facility and the program was top... More

After 20+ years of living in KC, I finally made a trip into the historic KC Library. Housed in the former First National Bank building, it is impressive not only for the books. I could spend days and days there! They have a lovely open reading room upstairs, several great areas for meetings and studying, an old bank vault turned... More

Come for the architecture, the events, and of course, the collection! Try to catch one of the movies on the rooftop in their summer series. Get on their mailing list for great events and expand your knowledge and thinking!

I didn't have time to do all I hoped on my last visit and one thing I missed was this library. But I passed it a couple of times and was pleased by a couple of features. For one thing some of the steps are in the shape of the spines of books. Nice touch. Also there was a Civil... More

If you are downtown Kansas City, this is a place to visit. It is free and there are some very interesting exhibits. The Stargazing exhibit was interesting. I don't have the name of the exhibit but it was about Missouri, before during and after the civil war. Very interesting. Couldn't find it listed so perhaps the exhibit ended.
