Kansas City Really Knows How To Zoo-Keep!

A Monday morning visit was enjoyed by toddlers and adults. While most animals were hiding from the cool weather, the seals were out and performing. Their trainers were working with them and we felt like we had a private showing. The trainer was very informative and encouraged questions. The polar bear exhibit was disappointing but we later heard the male... More

The children in our daycare were fascinated by the close up view of the animals. The fact that they had a chance to see all of the animals we read about. The facility has fans in shaded areas and plenty of them throughout the park. They were never over heated.

Went to Kansas City Zoo during the holidays. It was a Sunday and the parking lots were full, plenty of family visiting. When I went inside, they asked me where I was from to keep track of where their visitors came from. The price for the ticket was fair, they have all these different themes for the zoo. "Africa" and... More

You'd never know this modern-looking zoo is 106 years old. It's been beautifully cared for and nurtured. From buildings to beasts, what's clear is how much KC loves its zoo. Don't miss it if you're in town, especially in any kind of decent weather at all. The Zoo stays open 362 days a year!

I have been to this zoo a couple of times with my daughter and grandchildren. This was my first time for a fall visit; nice because it wasn't nearly as crowded as during the summer. There is a lot of walking, lots of trees, animals scattered throughout; in short, a perfect activity for a gorgeous fall day. The map is... More

Humane treatment of animals with lots of space making the patrons work for their views. The zoo is very large and the beautiful grounds are a great place stroll on a weekend while looking at some interesting animals.

I love how this zoo is doing all it can to keep the animals in an as close as possible natural habitat. The walking paths are wide and easy to navigate. It's a great place to get your walking exercise in for the day, which I love!!

KC has a great zoo. Lots of animals to see up close and personal including polar bears and pinguins! I love the walking and looking with my husband for a date or with the grand kids.

Generally speaking I don't enjoy zoo's as I believe wild animals should not be caged up. But, I needed to kill some time entertaining my grandson. I have been to zoo's in bigger cities and hence was not expecting much from the KC zoo. Imagine my surprise. This zoo is my favorite. Not because it has more animals which an... More

For years the Kansas City Zoo languished until it managed to hire a Director from the famed Doorly Zoo in Omaha. Thanks to his efforts, and backing from the community, the Kansas City Zoo is now one of the nation's finest. The recent additions of a Polar Bear exhibit and a Penguin exhibit enhance the ongoing modifications and rebuilding of... More
