Ive been to several zoos, so I was expecting much of the same, but was happily surprised by the KC zoo on several levels. Foremost, I was impressed with the generous size of space given to the animals. Often it can be pretty depressing seeing animals confined to small or insensitive space, but here there were given generous room to... More

We have visited the KC Zoo twice in the past year. Once in September 2014 and just now in May 2015. We really have gone because our zoo in Omaha doesn't currently have elephants and my children love them. The first time we saw the sea lion show, penguins, elephants and the whole Africa area. The Africa area is down... More

Easy walking. Great Polar Bear habitat. Fun bird show. Train, tram and skylift rides. We had three generations age 3-60 and we all had fun. Ate at the Tuxedo Grill. The food was good and the prices were reasonable.

I moved here from Ohio in 2000, so I come from a state with many great zoos. 15years ago, I was underwhelmed at this lackluster zoo. But things have changed so much in 15 years. They have worked really, really hard to make this a much better zoo. The addition of several exhibits have really added to the charm of... More

I was a little skeptical to visit yet another zoo with the kids, but I was pleasantly surprised. Our kids are 8 and 3 and we spent about 5 1/2 hours at the zoo. We really enjoyed the penguin exhibit and the polar bears. There are plenty and washroom facilities all around the park. Lots of walking to do, but... More

First I will say that I don't like Elephants and Polar bears in zoo's. They are too migratory and need much more space than they can get in a zoo. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the rest of the zoo. I liked the layout of the zoo and the natural landscaping. They have some very rare and unusual... More

If you are looking for a fun day with the family, the Kansas City zoo is it! THE Kansas City zoo is smaller than St. Louis, Nebraska or the world famous San Diego zoo but this is still a great Kansas City attraction. You can make a day touring the zoo. There are a lot animals to see and new... More

The new penquin exhibit is wonderful! You can get up close and really enjoy the various species of penquins. We always had annual passes when our kids were little and went at least once a month. Now that they are all grown, my husband and I have passes again just for us. It is a great way to enjoy the... More

This is a wonderful place to see animals in a more naturalistic setting. The zoo is designed to feature animals from various habitats around the world and does a good job of that. Although there is a lot of walking, there are many shady stretches and places to sit and watch all the creatures in and visiting the zoo. I... More

I have spent time in the KC Zoo for over 60 years and seen new developments since I was in high school. And they have all taken advantage of our natural assets of hills and river valley; we are fortunate to have lots of space in Swope Park to grow into. In the 50's most animals were in bare cages....
