We just came back from visiting this museum. It was my 3rd visit and every time I go back there has been so much more added. The artifacts to look at are astonishing and to know that they are not even near being done preserving and displaying them all is beyond comprehension! The narrators are great but the involvement of... More

This museum has a whole bunch of artifacts from a sunken steamboat dug up a few miles outside of Kansas City. Lots of stuff to look at, all in near perfect condition, which is amazing given that it was underground for such a long time. The tour is ok, the two of us were thrown in with a giant group... More

A must see when in Kansas City. The collection and history of the Arabia is stunning. So happy it was recommended to us by a local family. The guide was very entertaining, informative and passionate.

The museum features the interesting story of the Arabia Steamboat that sank in the Missouri in the 1850s. The equipment on the boat is very well preserved and the guides bring the story to life

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is outstanding! You are transported back to the 1850's. The history of the steamboat and all of the artifacts are really interesting. Also the movie of the five men who set out to find the ship is a modern day adventure story. I would highly recommend seeing this museum when you visit KC!

This family restoration project is impressive to say the least! It is truly like going back in time as everything found in this sunken treasure was preserved under mud and then when uncovered, freeze dried and piece by piece painstakingly restored. It is like shopping back in time, looking through the glass at all that was shipped on this one... More

We all learned a lot about the steamboats along the Missouri River and the Arabia in particular. The excavation process is explained well. The artifacts will really surprise you. So much preserved in time. Definitely worth the visit!

A few families heard about a steamboat having gone down 170 years ago and that it was now under a farmer's field. The river changed course over time and had left where the steamship went down as dry land. They mortgaged and invested over a million dollars of their own money, exploring and doing a massive digging and water removal.... More

I really wasn't excited about this stop with wife and daughter. A sunken steamboat? It was $14.50 for each of us so that didn't help my excitement, but I gotta say it was one of the neatest stops we had over fours days of being a tourist in KC. Was not aware of the historical significance of this pre-civil war... More

This is a unique museum that you can visit again and again. The story behind it is as amazing as the artifacts. Whenever I have guests from out of town, this is the first place I take them.
