A Missourian, I've been in and out of the Capitol for years. I always find something new to see (and try not to get lost!). It is a magnificent, beautiful building. The first floor museum changes often. What is most impressive, though, is walking the halls and seeing the many murals. Be sure and see the Benton murals.

Kids can get some exercise in the wide open hallways on the weekends at the state capital. There are murals in the hallways depicting Missouri History and the interior of the building is impressive. The displays on the first floor are well constructed and offer something of interest for just about anyone. The floor with sculptured busts of "famous Missourians"... More

Gorgeous in and out. Try photos from in front of the Governor's Mansion, or down by the River on the other side. Night.

It is a wonderful site to see. If you want to see everything and read about everything you should allow a full day.

We greatly enjoyed our tour leader--she shared many tidbits and interesting facts about the artists and paintings in the Capitol in addition to information on the state and it's history. There were several exhibits on the lowest floor on Civil War and on Missouri's state resources. Free 3 hr parking around the circle drive that surrounds the Capitol. The tour... More

Distinguished architecture attracted us to explore it; clearly the Missourians are proud of this building because they welcome the public to tour it. Informative guide, fun to see the Thomas Hart Bentons.... Jeff City is a small city, easy to get around. Too bad that it is so isolated, had to fly into St Louis and then drive 2 hrs.... More

We enjoyed the tour and learned so much about the building. It was especially interesting to hear about the Thomas Hart Benton murals and the other artwork and information. We've lived in Missouri for 12 years and never made it here before even though we drive through Jeff City a couple times a month. We will be back again to... More

Such a beautiful capitol, inside and out. My kids and I both love going there and the grounds outside are so beautiful.

Never made it to the inside, just walked around the outside. The architecture was fantastic, very large building with statues all around. Parking is easy if you can find a space. You can see the building from lots of different areas around town. Just beautiful.
