I had not visited the Capital since I worked their almost 20 years ago. Went by to show my 8 year old son on the way to Columbia and he was impressed. Went on a Sunday, so basically had the place to ourselves. The first floor is a history museum - he really enjoyed the exhibits. Can't wait to take... More

The museum, visiting the representative chambers the murals and the history behind them was just amazing. Not to mention the history between the State Capitol and the old penitentiary was so interesting. We spent a total of about 4 hours on the tour, exploring the grounds and spent a whole 50 cents for parking! Yet that was it and major... More

Worth a visit if you are in area. Been to a few other Capital buildings in my travels and this one is on par. Nice display of Civil War memorabilia on 1st level. Easy access to building. Plenty of free parking all around. Nice park around back.

Hard for a JHawk to say anything good about Mizery, but this is worth seeing, since I was there on business anyway.

The State Capitol building consists of the executive and legislative branches of government as well as two really well presented museums. The building is open 7 days, with no annoying security. (quite a difference to the Illinois State Capitol, which a visited a few months ago) You could wander almost anywhere in the building or take advantage of a free... More

The free tour of the Capitol Building is something I would highly recommend for families and anyone interested in the state's history and governance. The tour guide I had was kind and knowledgable.

I had never been to the capitol building in MO., so when we took a day trip from Columbia, I decided to walk the grounds and see what the interior of the building looked like. The grounds were beautiful with some interesting fountains, statues and informational signs. The interior of the building was beyond my expectations with great murals, dome,... More
