My teenage daughter and I took this tour and liked it. The guide was great (the former school librarian) and the building and artwork are beautiful. Not being from Missouri, we learned a lot about the state and its history. Can't beat a free tour.

The Missouri State Museum is housed in the capitol building in Jefferson City. It is very well done. The exhibits depict the history of the state from ancient times to modern day. Various ethnic groups of the state are showcased in individual exhibits. There was also a good exhibit on the Civil War in Missouri. What a great way to... More

We stopped by on July 4th had a tour almost entirely to ourselves. The building is beautiful and our guide very much enjoyed describing this piece of Missouri's history.

Great view of the capital from every angle. Nice veteran memorial. The Capital was open on Saturday and even had tours.

Spectacular building and grounds, well worth the visit. The dome is lit at dusk, providing the opportunity for fantastic night photography. I spent some time wondering around with my tripod and camera, fun to shoot. We took the guided tour (free) and found it informative and interesting. Ran just over the expected hour, plus additional time to explore the areas... More

Be sure you take the FREE tour. Only way to see the inside of the chambers and the Thomas Hart Benton masterpiece in the lounge.

What a beautiful interior and something every Missourian owes to themselves to see in person. The on site museum(s) are also well worth the trip. The hall of busts of famous Missourians is also very impressive. Just a very lovely and educational must-see.

I'm with a few people here. We have been to several Capital bldg tours and this one was mostly on the artwork. I do have to say that some of the art does depict stages of history. It was interesting. I would have liked to have more emphasis on history.
