We took a self-tour so had time to wander around the capital at a leisurely rate. There are elevators, but found the steps to be good exercise. Very beautiful building, interesting paintings, history, hands on things for children and big adults. We did hear some of the tour guides talking and they were very informative and interesting. Lots of restrooms... More

My wife and I did a self paced tour of the capital and really enjoyed exploring the old building. We were there at a time when their was hardly any one there so we had plenty of time to really look at all of the art and attractions inside of the building. We caught part of a tour at one... More

The capital is worth spending part of your day if passing through the Jefferson City area. There is always some sort of display setup inside the capital. They also offer tours during certain times. Spring is a good time to visit with the flower blooming and the fountains going. Within walking distance are several places to eat and the Amtrak... More

Unfortunately we only had a short time, but glad we took some time to see it. The out side is very nice looking up on a small hill and stately/impressive. The art work and architecture was worth the time to stop and see.

We went on the hour-long tour of the Capitol. Our guide, Patty, was very kind and informative and it was a pleasure to listen to her. We enjoyed learning about the Missouri State Seal, and seeing the history in the Benton mural room. The two museums (one about Missouri natural resources, one about Missouri's involvement in the Civil War) were... More

Being a loyal, true son of Missouri, a visit to my home state's capitol was a no brainer :) ....and an absolutely awesome trip! The domed capitol building sits up on a bluff that looks out over the Mighty Mo (Missouri River) and has fantastic architecture both inside and out. A beautiful building to take pictures, or just sit out... More

My teenage daughter and I took this tour and liked it. The guide was great (the former school librarian) and the building and artwork are beautiful. Not being from Missouri, we learned a lot about the state and its history. Can't beat a free tour.

The Missouri State Museum is housed in the capitol building in Jefferson City. It is very well done. The exhibits depict the history of the state from ancient times to modern day. Various ethnic groups of the state are showcased in individual exhibits. There was also a good exhibit on the Civil War in Missouri. What a great way to... More
