The history of the statue is as interesting as the statue itself. Mark Twain was a true hero to the people of Hannibal and still today his history is what brings people to this small town on the Mississippi River.

Placed at the end of the street near the Mark Twain's Boyhood Home museum, this darling statue desires a stop to see.

This is an old statue, and has seen many backdrops. In Hannibal, you just gotta see it once. Then you can rest in peace for the remainder of your life.

Actually getting to see the statue was amazing after reading the book 35 years ago. This is located at the end of town. If you sit long enough you can picture what troubles these boys got into.

Nice piece of sculpture, but an "attraction"? If that's how you categorize it, it gets an average, end of story. A much more impressive statue resides in Riverview Park. It's Mark Twain overlooking the mighty Mississippi. An inspiring spot and attraction in Hannibal that I'm trying for the life of me to review, but can't figure out how to do... More

This statue is beautiful and it was interesting to hear that this statue was the very first statue in North America modeled after fictional characters.

The town of Hannibal has done a nice job of making the Tom Sawyer story come alive and give a history lesson to all. I had brought my daughters here 30 years ago and now I brought my granddaughters.

Go back in time and see with different eyes while at the same time enjoy what 21rst century folk have done to keep the history of this community alive while at the same time being a good place to live in the here and now.

There's only so much you can do with a statue, but this one didn't have a little plaque or anything to give a little bit of details about the statue, which I've usually seen at historic statues elsewhere. Located close to the other Mark Twain related "things to do" in Hannibal so if you're planning to go to any of... More

At the North end of Main Street near the boyhood home of Mark Twain. Immediately above the statue is an overlook with a nice view of the river and downtown. Continuing up the steps brings you to the lighthouse which was closed on the Sunday when we were there. While we were there the trolley tour pulled up and explained,... More
