I was part of a four person group who spent a Summer weekend stay at the Rockcliffe Mansion. The hospitality of the staff, and the freedom to explore this wonderful mansion and its history, was an enlightening experience. I intend to come back in the Fall. If you are interested in early 19th Century architecture and history, I recommend the... More

Awesome place to see, great tour , worth the price. Owner/tour guide is very good, has done a great job with the mansion and is still striving to get it all done . Awesome to see all the antiques , we loved it.

Both the tour and the B&B combine to take one back in time to when Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn adventures were real. Seeing the rolling river from the mansion makes the river life real while the mansion is the Gilded Age. The current owners clearly have a passion for bringing the mansion back to its gilded past: one could close his/her... More

My husband and I went with my in-laws based on the reviews of this site. We were looking forward to being able to understand about the time the mansion was thriving. The house was magnificient but the air was very stilted. Hardly any air movement unless you went into the rooms with the A/C. The guide was hard of hearing... More

The mansion itself is impressive but the story of it's past makes this a must stay. The mansion was completed around 1902 and lived in until the owner died in about 1927. His elderly wife simply locked the doors and left to live with a daughter. The neglected building was scheduled to be torn down and was saved about 10... More

Very interesting tour. The guide , who lives there, was very knowledgeable and interesting. There was a lot of glass made by Tiffany. Price for adults was $15.00. It also is used for a bed and breakfast.

This house is incredible. We liked the authenticity of the furnishings and wall coverings. The guide and owner was very informative and knew the history so well. It is one of the very few tour homes where you can tour all of the floors. Well with the price.

My wife and I stayed at the B&B, we got a very nice tour after hours. It is an interesting site because of the fact that all the furniture is original to the house. After the patriarch died the family just moved, taking only clothes. (thus the reason for all of the furniture) It was closed for years, re-opened, I... More

I took the guided tour on April 30, 2014. The guide was the owner himself, and it was a treat to be shown this magnificent building and hear all of its history as well as contemporary challenges. The mansion is large, built around 1900, so it is in the opulent style in vogue at that time. However, the mansion was... More

The tour included about three floors. They are working on the fourth floor and the basement is off limits due to modern kitchen equipment for the bed and breakfast. Very nice house. Met the owner briefly. He does need to paint the outside. Enjoyed it.
