I'm sensitive to dust and mold and this old mansion had plenty of both. Warning-I would never stay as a B & B The history was interesting and the period furnishings were also, but nothing was being keep clean or polished, to bad because the wood in this mansion was beautiful and a little TLC would have removed the dust... This mansion is still being restored but the inside is fabulous! It is beautiful and the craftsmanship throughout the house is unparalleled. The outside still needs some work but that will be happening in time. You really should plan to take the tour. It is definitely worth the time.

We took the morning tour and it was amazing! We found out this mansion had sat uninhabited for 43 years, but an incredible amount of priceless artifacts survived the neglect. If you are in Hannibal, do not miss this!

I was surprised by the quality of the furnishings and artwork. I am grateful that most everything was still in good condition after being abandoned for 43 years; and I'm thankful for the people who rescued and restored this home. Very enjoyable tour with personal stories by a woman who had lived there 12 years as a caretaker. As usual,... More

Our tour was facilitated by the owner of the mansion. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the property and every detail related to the decor and history of Rockcliffe. The price for the tour was a little bit high, but I interpreted it as a tradeoff for the in depth access to such a rich historical landmark. I've been... More

If you enjoy historic houses, this should be on your list. Like many of these old houses, it is always under repair. But that shows the age and charm of the house, and that the owner cares. When the house was built, they weren't sure that this new thing called electricity would catch on, so the house was wired for... More

Thank you for your kind review. You are right about the on going projects. And you are right also about the fact that we care. Since 2010. The Mansion has been under a constant restoration. It was like walking into history unfolding before our eyes. Were spellbound with the woodwork inside the mansion dating back to the eighteenth century. The musuem houses the original antiques and furniture kept in pristine conditions. The stained glass windows are spectacular. One can spend a few hours just reading and going from room to room of the building overlooking... More

Rockcliff Mansion is so beautiful! My husband and I went on the tour and it was awesome! Not only is this house absolutely breathtaking, but the history behind it is fascinating. This mansion built in 1901 is precariously perched on a cliff, hence the name, and as soon as you pull up you can feel the old world charm start... More
