Tour was well paced and interesting. It is hard to believe some of the original wall paper and furniture survived the house sitting empty for 43 years. Thankfully, vandals spared many beautiful furnishings, chandeliers and windows.

Tiffany windows & lamps, arabian carpets and beautiful wood moldings. The exterior needs some upkeep but inside...wow. The lady who gave our 2 hour, three story tour did a really great job explaining the history of not only the family but the house and furnishings too. She was very knowledgable.

Because we own a Victorian home and know the work that goes into restoring and keeping up an old home. made me appreciate the beauty of Rockcliff. The home, located high in the city, overlooks the river and many other historic homes. Rockliff speaks to you as you enter the front door telling you of the life many years before... More

Spent a relaxing evening at Rockcliffe Mansion last night during a day trip to Hannibal. Our host Juan was engaging and made us welcome in his home. Fabulous setting and your visit will contribute to the ongoing restoration project. The welcome wine and cheese was charming with breakfast appropriately served in the formal dining room with gold trimmed crystal and... More

We did not expect to tour this house but glad we did. We were the only people on this tour and the guide was the actual owner of the house. He definitely has a love for the preservation of something so beautiful. The tour took about an hour. Is it worth the price? He has to have some help paying... More

While the mansion still needs more work and upkeep, the original woodwork and Tiffany glass work is absolutely amazing. Definitely worth the few minutes to stop and take the tour. Tour guide (owner) was very informative and casual.

This house is very important architecture to Missouri. The house was built in 1900 by John J. Cruikshank, a Missouri lumber baron. Most of the interior is original as the elderly wife moved next door to live with her daughter and left much of her furnishings in the Mansion. The house is beautiful. The staircase is really impressive looking up.... More

Took the tour in May on a road trip between Kansas City and St. Louis and decided we must come back for a long weekend's stay! Rockcliffe Mansion's impressive ongoing restoration processes should be required study and entertainment for architecture students, grad schools, and professionals alike. We will return with our notebooks in hand for more room to room learning... More

Last fall, I visited Scotland on a grand tour of the fabulous castles and scenic countryside. The name of one town in particular – Rockcliffe, Scotland -- rang a bell. Then it dawned on me that when I got home to the U.S., I had to go back to Rockcliffe Mansion, in Hannibal Missouri, to see if there was any... More
