Great date night!

We bought a bottle of wine and got comfy on an old couch to see a good movie. What more could you want?

This is an iconic little local cinema and café. It reminds you of a Haight/Ashbury hang out circa 1977. The movies tend to be independent, foreign, or off beat. This is one of the key catalysts behind the wildly popular annual True/False movie festival. Interesting mic of people - college kids, hipsters, and 50' something academia. The movie theater rooms... Awesome place! Super cool films and excellent beer selection. Really cute little theatre with comfy couches to sit on and I loved that you can bring food/drinks from the attached bakery into the theatre.

How fun to be able to grab a glass of wine and chat in the foyer prior to the show and then be able to take your beverage of choice in to the movie with you! Great ever-changing selection of shows. Not a large theater though so be sure to call ahead.

Ragtag Cinema is a phonomenon for a city the size of Columbia, MO. Yeah, it's a university town, but still; this place is amazing. You can grab a bite to eat at Uprise Bakery (not just a bakery) adjacent to the theater, see art films that are not typically available at the local cinemas, and when you leave, check out... More

Every good college town either has a theater like this, or should have one. Grab a craft beer, go sit in a lounge chair, or on a sofa, or in lecture hall chairs with attached desks and watch good art house movies with all the students and professors who would rather watch quality than just schlepp to the cineplex.

Great Cafe and wine/beer selection to take along to the movie. A funky feel and excellent movie selections. Great Patio for lunch or drink before or after the movie. Good people watching.

I enjoy this uniquely decorated theater. They show films that do not usually make it to the main stream theaters. They show foreign films, documentaries, and other films that make you think. In their lobby, they have a cafe with soup, bread, sandwiches, desserts, and wine that you can take into the theater or eat in the lobby.

This is a great little independent theater in the middle of downtown Columbia. In my experience the films are reliably good, even though I've never heard of most of them. There are two screens, and the seating in the smaller theater leaves something to be desired, consisting of old couches and found chairs. But then, it's part of the funky... More

It's always fun to go see a film at Ragtag. There are 2 theatre. One is larger and more modern. The smaller one has old furniture instead of typical movie theatre seats. An employee comes out before the previews to tell you about upcoming shows. They typically show more art house films but occasionally they will show something that also... More
