Ragtag is one of Columbia;s greatest gems

This place has it all-beer, independent movies, and terrific ambiance. A great place to hang out before, after or sans movie.

Ragtag is a fun place to see a movie. It isn't an art house type of place, but is independent and shows many films you wouldn't see at the big theatre chains. Great snacks, meals, and drinks available in the cafe' and you can take it on into the movie if you like. Very comfortable, laid-back place. Discount for seniors... More

Where can you find great independent and foreign films and documentaries with an awesome bakery/café and a great bar? Not to mention the interesting people who hang out to imbibe and discuss the films that have just seen! I can't imagine Columbia, Missouri without Ragtag Cinema!

You can sit on a couch and eat while you watch art movies and popular movies. They have a bakery restaurant inside the facility.

I tell everyone how unique this place is to see a movie. Heres my personal pros and cons. Pros -seating uniqueness in both theaters. Relaxed, comfy -food and bar -types of movies are different, first class, large and small scale types -staff is excellent -prices are good -non profit status Cons -cant think of one

Great place to see limited release and documentary films. Relaxed atmosphere, beer, wine, bad popcorn (personal opinion) and good food. The owners also spearhead the True/False Film Festival that draws 30-40,000 people from all over the world to Columbia in early March each year for an amazing experience. 4 days of non-stop documentary film viewing from 9a-9pm in 10-12 venues,... This is a small theater which shows independent and documentary films. It's grown from it's prior location to two screens so there is a little more variety in the shows they offer. You can get great info online and buy tickets ahead of time to ensure seats. They have a bar and bakery, so definitely more fun than just overpriced... More

We bought a bottle of wine and got comfy on an old couch to see a good movie. What more could you want?

This is an iconic little local cinema and café. It reminds you of a Haight/Ashbury hang out circa 1977. The movies tend to be independent, foreign, or off beat. This is one of the key catalysts behind the wildly popular annual True/False movie festival. Interesting mic of people - college kids, hipsters, and 50' something academia. The movie theater rooms...
