Nielsen Park is one of the best Parks on the Sydney Harbour foreshore. It is sheltered; it has a fantastic pool - netted off in the harbour; it has a great - and very large - picnic park/area. The trees afford lots of shade but there is plenty of open space, also. To top it all off - it has... More

Superb park right on the water with a netted and safe swimming beach. Great little cafe for a late breakfast or lunch with good selection of food and drinks. Lovely walk around the park with stunning views back to the city and harbour. A must visit if you are in Sydney.

Nielsen Park is a beatuful place for a picnic. It has plenty of parking, big, shady trees and best of all a beautiful, little beach with shark netting for safe swimming. The cafe has great food and there are several short walks around the foreshore and over the cliffs.

I visited the park with an international guest twice last week. The beach is clean and safe(shark-proof net),though the shoreline falls away quite quickly for children. We loved the shade and picnic facilities which provided plenty of options for spending a day here. Especially loved the vintage bathing pavilions which brought back memories of childhood! Downside - parking on Sunday... More

Nielsen Park offers up wonderful eastern views of Sydney harbour. It has million dollar views, pack a picnic, get there early to find parking as this is a busy park that is frequented by locals and visitors. For those who enjoy photgraphy I suggest ealy in the morning or late afternoon to capture the mood and tone of the ever... More

Whenever I'm in Sydney staying with family, we nearly always end up at Nielsen Park for a swim, picnic, walk or just a coffee at the small shop. The inner harbour bays are so safe for kids to swim, and are usually a few degrees warmer than the ocean bays. The grounds are a wonderful walk and old Greycliffe House... More

Nielsen Park is one of my favourite places in Sydney, and not many locals even know of it. It's not that easy to get to by public transport. However, I thoroughly recommend visiting especially in the summer. In my opinion, walk the Hermitage Foreshore Walk (close to Rose Bay wharf). You'll walk past often empty beaches and have great views... More

This is a secret part of Sydney, that very few people know about, a little hard to find, a little hard to get too, but once there hard to leave, pack a picnic lunch, a blanket to sit on, and the time to enjoy the view of the Sydney Harbour and this wonderful little park.
