I was stopping through Jackson on the way to New Orleans, and I love visiting gardens. This one was so beautiful, and peaceful . Loved everything about it. Great way to spend a few hours at little cost. You can even buy a small baggie of food for the turtles and fish in the gift shop.

This attraction began as the flower shop of Mynelle Westbrook Green Hayward in the 1920s. Today it covers seven lovely acres of all sorts of plants and flowers -- azaleas, camellias, large flowering trees, interesting plants and, of course, perennials. It has streams, bridges and ponds containing turtles and fish, mostly bream and perch. The gardens, opened to the public... More

This is a wonderful hidden location in the Jackson metro area. The plants and flowers are seasonal and are always provide good viewing in the spring and early fall. The summer can be a little hot and humid. This is a great place for a wedding in the fall or early spring. Spend some time at the gardens and you... More

You can see shades of what the gardens used to be like... overgrown pathways and signs describing plants that are no longer there or identifiable are common. It's not on par with other botanical gardens I have visited, but it easily could be with some investment and care. The City of Jackson now owns and runs the gardens and only... More

Mynelle has a rich history and is so beautiful! Be aware that you are nearing a bad part of town, but don't let that dissuade you from making the trip. It's totally worth it - and it's safe. A great spot to take pictures, whether for fun or professionally. A must see in Jackson for sure. It's only $4 to... More

What a great place to visit, particularly when the spring flowers are in bloom. We are fortunate to have this treasure preserved in our city.

I live in a suburb outside of Jackson and would NOT visit Mynelle Gardens. This place is located in a very bad part of Jackson. You better be well armed!

I visited Mynelle Gardens on a pretty April afternoon. The lady at the front desk was very nice. The azaleas were in bloom so it was quite colorful. The grounds were well-kept and clean. I was a littler disappointed to see a blue tarp on the part of the Westbrook House roof. Otherwise a very enjoyable time.

The gardens have so much potential. It is obvious that care is not being taken for the existing plants and grounds. Most of the color was added by recently planted pansies. Staff was very nice. Just sad.
