The MS Museum of Art is really a jewel. The museum consistently offers one-of-a-kind exhibitions, with something for all ages. The Art Garden has been a fantastic addition, serving as a venue for countless events, festivals and outdoor movies (my personal favorite). The cafe offers delicious food for a reasonable price, and the gift shop always has something to catch... More

I recently dined here on a nice sunny day. We decided to dine outside since it was nice and warm. There are fountains around, so the set-up is inspiring. However, I could have done without the bird poop on the table. The server was nice enough to clean up everything for us. I ordered the pork burger with fries, my... More

We fancied a change from civil rights and civil war museums and chose a morning of art which certainly did the trick! The permanent galleries of Mississippian art were amazing and very varied in content and the Marie Hull special exhibition introduced us to a hugely talented artist who worked in a variety of styles and recorded her life. Provocative... More

The Museum of Art is great because it is free to the public! Not only is there a great collection of art from Mississippi natives, there is also a room with interesting contemporary paintings and sculptures. Every 3rd Thursday of the month, the museum is open late and drinks are available for purchase. This museum is coordinating great events that... More

The collection emphasizes art by Mississippi artists and is surprisingly entertaining and thought-provoking. Very polite and knowledgeable staff enhanced our visit. A wonderful little secret in downtown Jackson.

I attended a special opening night event for a local painter. The life-time retrospect of her work was quite interesting and the crowd was huge. A couple of Mississippi blues musicians provided excellent entertainment. The heavy hor dourves were plentiful though the wait staff was having a hard time keeping up with refilling the tables. The meat items must have... More

We LOVE this Museum. They have great exhibits and plan amazing events all year long. We loved going to Screen on the Green. I hope they are still doing that.

What a treat! We were given the opportunity to share time with two of Jackson's local artists, Phillip Wooley who wowed us with the beauty guitars made from cigar boxes (Habana Cigars) and Tony Davenport amazed us with his beautiful oil paintings that were inspired by music. Great turn out!

The property is beautiful and parking convenient but the permanent collection does not contain any major artists and it is small. Check to see because a major artist's work could come through on a traveling exhibit. It's nice that major cities contain free museums such as this one.
