Spouse and I are visiting all the state capitols and Mississippi is #26 on our quest. This was one of the best tours we've done and I can't recommend it enough! Entrance is at the north or south sides of the building (not east or west sides), on the ground level. The tour office desk is just off the rotunda... More

We have been to many state capitol buildings but will always remember Mississippi as the illuminated one. We noticed the lights upon entry but our attention was drawn to them by tour guide on several occasions. The overall experience of the 30 minute tour gave simple information about structure but also history. Don't miss the old capitol museum as it... More

I was in the neighborhood, for lunch at the "Two Sister's Kitchen" (recommended) when I stopped to see the capital grounds. It's very impressive from what I could see from the outside. They were having a GMO protest on the steps on the capital, which was entertaining on its own. The entire grounds and the area around it is beautiful... More

We wandered downtown to see the state capitol building, which was lovely in the early evening sun, just sad that there was scaffolding covering most of the top of it.

The capitol building was under renovation when we were there, but there was still plenty that we were able to see. Our docent was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and had lots of great stories to tell about the history of the building. Travelers who tour capitol buildings a lot know pretty much what to expect to see, but there are... More

I took my 7 granddaughters to see our beautiful Capitol. We had the best tour guide named Jackie. She was very knowledgable and so kind to my girls. Thank you!

We did not tour inside, just walked around the grounds to get a closer view. Although the building was undergoing major renovations, we enjoyed the sight. This state capitol had a very deep southern feel reminding us of the Confederate days. The large gold eagle on top of the dome was a unique trademark and it was neat to see... More

There is a huge renovation so we couldn't see much. The marble looks really nice in the parts where it's not fake. You can also sense the great history of Mississippi in all the portraits and the small details.

We were looking for an activity to do while beating the summer heat. We were pleasantly surprised with how much we liked the Capitol. It is easily accessible if you pay a couple of dollars to park on the street. A tour guide walked us around the building; pointing out marble fixtures, portraits, and customs. My teens learned a bit... More
